TNA Final Resolution Results

TNA hosted its final PPV of the year last night in the Impact Zone. I have not watched the PPV yet as live in the UK, but will give my positives and negatives on the show tomorrow. From what I have been hearing the PPV was considered to be the best show from top to bottom in quite a while for the company.  Here is the full list of results:

  1. Beer Money defeated Ink Inc to become the new number one contenders for TNA Tag Titles
  2. Tara defeated Mickie James in a Falls Count Anywhere match
  3. Robbie E defeated Jay Lethal by DQ to retain the X Division title
  4. Rob Van Dam defeated Rhino in a First Blood match
  5. Douglas Williams defeated AJ Styles to become new TNA TV Champion
  6. Motor City Machine Guns defeated Generation Me in a Full Metal Mayhem match to retain the TNA tag team titles
  7. Abyss defeated The Pope in a Casket match
  8. Jeff Jarrett defeated Samoa Joe in a submission match
  9. Jeff Hardy defeated Matt Morgan to retain TNA World title, with Mr Anderson as the special referee

WWE Raw Recap for 11/29/2010

Greetings Pwrestlingnews readers and welcome to this weeks Raw Recap! I’m Sunny K and I’ll be providing weekly coverage of WWE Raw and Smackdown. I’ll also throw in my thoughts, match analyses and anything else that I feel like saying about the show along the way. Here’s how it’ll work – I’ll cover non-wrestling/promo segments by basically reiterating, word for word, what is being said. Of course, I may throw in some fitting sarcastic quirks and comments as well. It’s pretty much to impossible to “rate” these segments so a star rating can’t really be assigned to them. You should be able to tell if they’re worth your time by catching my tone and seeing what I have to say about them. Of course, opinions do differ so if I’m doing play by play of a Tyson Kidd interview and I tell you that it sucks, you may think otherwise. Although it’s Tyson Kidd with a microphone, how good could that possibly be? Matches will be timed and given a star rating. Again, if I give a match a full five stars that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to agree with me. Let’s exemplify, shall we. Jon Heidenreich returns to take on Vladmir Kozlov. They wrestle a 10 minute shitfest of a clusterfuck save for a decent finish. I go ahead and give the match ¼*. However, upon viewing it yourself, you actually think it’s quite decent and disagree with the harsh rating. What I’m saying is just don’t be too torn up about it, ok? Leave a comment letting me know how much of a dick I am for giving a Jon Heidenreich match under four stars, if that helps. Okay, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, without further ado let’s get started.

Reality Check

Saying that last week’s show was huge is an understatement. Mr. Money in the bank, The Miz, finally ended up cashing in his contract for a WWE Championship match immediately after Randy Orton defeated Nexus leader Wade Barrett. Orton, who suffered a brutal beatdown at the hands of The Nexus just moments prior to entering the ring for his match against Barrett, lost to The Miz. Clean. So the Miz is the Champion. Let that sink in for a second. I’ll say it again. The Miz is the WWE Champion. I, for one am all for putting the belt on him. He’s relatively young, rapidly improving and one of the best stickmen in WWE today. Of course, there are people who are going to disagree with me. That’s what the comments box is for. Unleash your rage. Vent. Vent all you want, but the reality is that The Miz is THE guy on Raw at the moment. Last week was also the final appearance of John Cena as he was “fired”. Cena “went out” on a high note and delivered a really heartfelt promo that I personally enjoyed. Of course, with all the rumors of “Juan Cena, John’s Mexican cousin” all but confirmed, we should all be expecting to see “Juan” tonight. Finally, King of the Ring qualifier matches were scattered about the show last week. This week is the King of the Ring tournament in Philadelphia. My pick? Sheamus. Without a doubt. After a clean loss to John Morrison at Survivor Series, Sheamus desperately needs a big win to propel him right back to the top. I think winning the KOTR crown and beating JoMo along the way would do just that. Alberto Del Rio is another guy who I think could take the crown tonight. Management seems to be really high up on the guy right now, and for good reason. He’s great. King Morrison has a nice ring to it. King Kofi Kingston does not. Too many “king’s”. Then there’s the other guys – Big Zeke, McIntyre, Rhodes and Bryan. Bryan doesn’t need to win it. It’s too early for Jackson. McIntyre…maybe? He’s been in the doghouse so long that I forgot he even existed. As for Rhodes, he needs to start wearing some knee pads before he can even think of rocking a crown.

An excellent video package highlighting the shocking events of last week is shown.

Raw is live from Philadelphia. Lawler mentions the first KOTR tournament was in 1985. I thought it was in 1993. Stop revising history, WWE. Alex Riley comes out and says that The Miz is the WWE Champion and he is excited and honored to be a part of one of the most groundbreaking moments in the history of entertainment. He compares The Miz winning the championship to Neil Armstrong walking on the moon. Cole starts clapping and sounds like he’s loving this. Riley says that he plans on throwing The Miz a huge celebration while Punk throws some clever DUI-related shots.

First Round KOTR Match
Alberto Del Rio vs Daniel Bryan

The commentators hype the tournament during ADR’s entrance. Punk says he stole Vince’s toupee and Cole points out that Punk is dressed accordingly this week.  Meaning he’s actually wearing pants. The match starts as ADR backs Bryan into the corner and kicks him in the ribs at the start. Big “Daniel Bryan” chant starts up but Del Rio silences the crowd as he puts Bryan in a side headlock. Del Rio runs the ropes and gets dropkicked by Bryan. Bryan goes for a quick cover but gets a one count. Del Rio gets up and plants Bryan with a weak spinebuster and Bryan grabs ADR’s arm on the way down and attempts an early Lebell lock. Del Rio bails to the outside as they go to commercial.

Back from commercial now as Del Rio has Daniel Bryan in a side headlock. They show Del Rio hitting Bryan with a kick to the head during the break. Del Rio drives a couple of knees into Bryan’s shoulder, goes for a cover and gets a two count. Back to the chinlock. Del Rio is scraping Bryan’s face now. What a heel. It’s the little things like this that make a good heel. Bryan fights out of the chinlock with elbows but gets scooped up and slammed to the mat. Del Rio goes for a vader bomb and misses. Daniel Bryan rolls Del Rio up and gets a two count. Both men up now and Bryan goes for a crucifix pin and gets another two count. ADR kicks Bryan in the head but Bryan gets a few elbows in of his own. Del Rio reverses a whip into the cornerbut Bryan flips off the turnbuckle and lands on his feet. They exchange waistlocks and Bryan ends up behind Del Rio. He hits a german suplex into a pin. Alberto kicks out at two. Bryan whips Del Rio into the ropes and ducks but Del Rio kicks him in the face. Alberto bounces off the ropes and gets kicked right back. Bryan hits a running dropkick and covers for a long two count. Del Rio’s on his knees now and eating a lot of kicks. Bryan runs the ropes and goes for a clothesline but it’s reversed into a beautiful german suplex pin by ADR. Another two count ADR goes for a dropkick but lands on the outside. Bryan follows him out with a dive through the ropes. That was awesome. Bryan throws Del Rio back in and goes up top. Bryan misses a missile dropkick. Bryan is taking his time getting up now. Del Rio notices that Bryan is hurt and locks in the floatover. Bryan, hurt shoulder and all, immediately taps out. ADR wins!

Analysis: **3/4 It went about 9 minutes but it was solid all the way through. Bryan busted out the awesome dive through the ropes once again. The kid is crazy. He does it in every match! If they had been given around 15 minutes this match would’ve likely been incredible.

They show some past KOTR winners and point out that many of them kick-started their careers by winning the tournament.

R-Truth comes out and tells the WWE Universe what’s up. He brings up John Cena being fired last week. He says that he doesn’t care what anybody says, John Cena is still his friend and John went out like a champ. He says, truth be told, when all this started he tried to get John to quit on his own terms. He ended up losing what he cherished the most – the WWE Universe. He says that Nexus may have won the battle, but the war hasn’t even started yet. He issues an open challenge to any member of The Nexus to take him on. Grisham is with Michael McGillicutty backstage. McGillicutty says that he’s about to show R-Truth what happens when you issue an open challenge to anyone from the Nexus. As he starts walking to the ring though, McGillicutty is seen being attacked backstage by someone wearing purple. Hmmm…who could that be?

We come back from commercial break as the commentator speculate as to who beat the shit out of Michael McGillicutty backstage. I refuse to spell out his name one more time during this recap. It’s just too much work.

First Round KOTR Match
“Dashing” Cody Rhodes vs. John Morrison

It’s the battle of the sexy boys. Nevermind, forget that I said that. Cole talks about Cody shaving his legs during his entrance. Okay, onto the match now. They lockup to start and Morrison gets Rhodes in a headlock. Morrison runs the ropes and hits a shoulderblock. He goes for a punch but Cody protects his face. Rhodes takes control and backs Morrison into the corner and tries to choke him. He runs into the turnbuckle to nail Morrison but misses. Morrison hits Rhodes in the face and Cody throws a fit and goes outside. They’re both back in now. Rhodes takes Morrison down with a clothesline and whips him hard into the turnbuckle. A cover by Rhodes gets two. “Birthday Suit” Cody Rhodes remains in control with a knee to the gut. Another cover gets two. He locks Morrison in a submission working JoMo’s neck. Morrison eventually fights out with punches and hits a few clotheslines and a heel kick. He goes for a cover but Rhodes kicks out. Rhodes gets a quick roll up but gets two. Morrison stays in control as he tries to whip Rhodes into the turnbuckle but gets elbowed. Rhodes jumps on the second rope in hopes of hitting the beautiful disaster but Morrison is too quick as he too, hits the second rope, throws out a kick that CM Punk dubbed “the flying chuck” and nails it. He follows it up with a running knee strike, which is the same move he beat Sheamus with at Survivor Series. Morrison pins him for three.

Analysis: *1/2 Match was just a shade under four minutes. Absolutely nothing to write home about here. The finish was nice, but there wasn’t much else. Morrison advances.

First Round KOTR Match
Drew McIntyre vs. Ezekiel Jackson

They cut out the beginning (and best part) of Drew’s music. Sucks for him. Cole says Zeke is his pick to win the tournament and admires his muscles. They lockup to start. Drew pushes Jackson into the corner and gloats about it. He slaps Jackson and taunts him. Zeke clotheslines Drew a few times and hits one final clothesline in the corner and then runs into him. Drew’s down now. Zeke tries to pick him up but Drew drapes Zeke’s head onto the turnbuckle and snaps it back. A cover by Drew gets a two. He pushes Jackson into the corner and punches away. Drew clotheslines him down. He picks him up but Jackson uses his strength to propel Drew, as well as himself, out of the ring. Both men end up getting counted out. Post match, they go back in the ring and Drew tries to set up Zeke for the Future Shock DDT but Jackson fights out and clotheslines him out as the commentators mention that Sheamus gets a bye.

Analysis: ¼* Punch, punch, kick, clothesline repeat. It went 3 minutes.

They show Daniel Bryan icing his shoulder. The Bellas show up and try to flirt with him before Alex Riley enters and asks them why they’re flirting with a nerd. Riley gets a phone call from The Miz and kisses his ass a bit. He tells the Bellas they’re not needed and then tells Bryan that he missed out on The Miz’ mentoring. He closes by saying “Welcome to Miz-fest 2010.”

Commercial

Clips of The Miz winning the WWE Championship last week are shown. The video really emphasizes the fact that Orton was not 100 % and was vulnerable due to an injured knee. They show a shot of a pissed off little girl in the crowd. Unintentional hilarity at its finest.

The Miz enters with Alex Riley as Cole goes apeshit. Cole calls him the greatest champion in the history of WWE. Miz said he had a huge celebration planned, but he didn’t need it because seeing how shocked and angry the WWE Universe was was enough satisfaction for him. He said he summed up the feeling of the WWE Universe when he won the title. He then shows two shots of the pissed off little girl I referred to earlier LOL. Wow. He says that girl will forever be known as “The Miz girl” and he wants to thank her for the struggle he had to go through to get here. He goes on and says how everyone doubted him and said he would amount to nothing. He brought up JBL, Triple-H and Cena. He says that he now holds the title and says for those people, “The Miz is WWE Champion.” Perfect chance to take a shot at Kevin Nash here. Didn’t happen. Miz then brings up Randy Orton and says that the only thing injured on Orton is his pride and then says that he will be the longest reigning WWE Champion in history. He then says, if you want to take anything away from this speech, take this “When someone says you can’t liveyour dream, believe them. Because you can’t.” Really good heat there. He calls himself one in a billion because he actually has achieved his dreams. He brings up Roddy piper and says he didn’t make anything happen. The Miz tells Riley to hold up a WWE Championship history book and mentions that Piper isn’t in that book. He brings up the fact that Steamboat, Perfect and Muraco aren’t in the book either.

Lawler grabs a mic and interrupts. He says congratulations are in order but tells the Miz that he beat a guy who was attacked by seven other people prior to the match. Lawler says that it may make him clever but doesn’t make him awesome. The Miz shoots back by saying he achieved something in one night that Lawler couldn’t in four decades. Cold. Michael Cole intervenes and tells Lawler to relax and to let The Miz have his moment. Lawler tells The Miz to face someone who wasn’t attacked by seven other guys if he wants to really prove he’s awesome. Lawler mentions that some of the guys who never became champion didn’t because they weren’t given that opportunity. Including him. He says that he’s been around since 1993 and hasn’t ever had a title shot. He then asks The Miz to face him in a title match. Miz declines and says that Lawler has done nothing in 40 years and calls him a shell of a hall of famer. Email time. The GM chimes in and makes The Miz vs Jerry Lawler for the WWE Championship tonight. Big pop for that. But that’s not all. The GM also mentions that the match will be a TLC match. Can Lawler even climb a ladder at 60 years old? I guess The Miz is going to be a human bumping machine tonight. This was a really entertaining segment. The Miz, like always was on point here and generated a lot of heat with the things he said. The man is absolute gold on the microphone. The shot of the pissed off little girl was a nice touch.

First Round KOTR Match
Sheamus vs Kofi Kingston

Sheamus starts out with a knee to the gut and backs Kofi into the ropes. Clothesline sends them both over the top and out. They go back in and Kofi hits a few kicks but gets hit with a backbreaker. Pinfall attempt by Sheamus gets 2. Sheamus stomps on Kofi’s back and locks in a submission, which quickly turns into a chinlock. Kofi fights out and hits a few kicks in the corner, few chops followed by a dropkick and a flying forearm. Kofi hits the boom drop on Sheamus, goes for the pin but only gets two. Kofi tries to jump on Sheamus in the corner but Sheamus gets out of the way. Sheamus picks him up from the top turnbuckle and puts him in the High Cross position. Kofi wiggles out, turns around and hits a trouble in paradise. Kofi climbs to the top but flies right into a Brogue Kick. Sheamus pins him and gets 3. Nice finish.

Analysis: *1/2 Not necessarily a bad match clocking in at only 5 minutes, but not good either. Just whatever. It was rushed. I was expecting more from these two but then I remembered that this isn’t Smackdown.

Commercial

Yoshi Tatsu and Mark Henry vs Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel

Looks like Gabriel’s sporting a new beard. Gabriel and Tatsu start things out. Tatsu goes for a pinfall attempt early. Jawbreaker by Gabriel as he tags in Slater. Wendy Slater stomps away on Tatsu in the corner and tags Gabriel back in. They show John Cena walking through the crowd with a ticket in his hand. He’s wearing his usual purple gear. Does Cena ever change his clothes? He goes to sit down in the front row. This is weird. I was expecting Juan. Mark Henry gets tagged in and “unloads” as Cole says, on Heath Slater. Pinfall attempt by Henry only gets 2 as Gabriel interferes. Whip in the corner. Henry runs into Slater’s boot. It’s only enough to momentarily daze him because Slater, who thinks he’s got the upper hand now, runs right into a World Strongest Slam. Henry gets the three count and that’s it. After the match Cena jumps over the guardrail, and gives Slater a huge AA through the announce table and runs off doing the “you can’t see me” hand sign. That was pretty funny. Cole mentions how Cena’s revenge on Nexus continues.

Analysis: ½* Basic, quick tag match. The post match AA was the highlight.

Commercial

Clips of Cena taking out Slater and McGillicutty are shown.

They show Otunga, Harris and Gabriel backstage. Otunga says that Cena is going to come after them sooner or later. Barrett enters and says that Cena’s fired so there’s no restrictions on what they can do to him. He says he’s calling out Cena later tonight.

Arn Anderson and Lawler are shown talking and Arn says a title match is long overdue. He says TLC matches are dangerous and tells Lawler that he might get hurt. Lawler says he’s never been in a TLC match but he’s never been in a WWE title match either. Arn wishes him luck.

They show updated KOTR brackets. Morrison/Del Rio is next.

Semi Final Match:
Alberto Del Rio vs. John Morrison

Morrison puts his shades on a kid in the front row a la Bret Hart before the match. Two of my favorites here. I’m really looking forward to this. Del Rio starts out with a kick and a few punches. He whips Morrison into the corner but runs right into a boot. JoMo flies off the top with a dropkick. Del Rio goes outside onto the apron and pulls Morrison’s arm over the rope hard. That’s enough to take control of the match. He goes to work on the arm. Pinfall attempt by Alberto only gets two. Del Rio keeps Morrison grounded and works the arm a bit more. Morrison fights out with punches but receives a knee to the gut. Morrison hits a forearm as Del Rio bounces off the ropes and gets caught with a heel kick. Both guys are up now. Del Rio hits an armbreaker and gets a two count. He puts Morrison in the corner and catches him with his patented running kick. Mysterio comes out and distracts Del Rio by honking the horn on the car Del Rio entered in. Morrison’s able to regroup during the distraction and he capitalizes by bouncing off the second rope and kicking Del Rio square in the face. That’s enough to get the three count. After the match, CM Punk calls Rey Mysterio a car theif and that payback is a “something”. Punk’s awesome.

Analysis: *3/4 Way too short. It was only about three minutes. They worked at an accelerated pace and it showed.

Wade Barrett is shown walking to the ring. He’s calling out John Cena next.

Commercial

Barrett comes out to the ring by himself and says that he sees right through Cena’s transparent plan. He says that he’s heard from the Raw GM that he is the only person who can give him his job back and that by Cena beating up Nexus until he gives in won’t work. He says that he won’t reinstate him just because Cena is trying to take apart the Nexus. He says that John Cena will never work in WWE again and that the Nexus will get their hands on Cena. Cena interrupts him when he shows up on the tron. Cena says that it’s not about keeping his job. It’s about keeping his word, and before he got fired he promised to take out every member of The Nexus. Barrett calls for WWE security to escort Cena out but Cena mentions that The Nexus previously beat the shit out of WWE security and that it may not be a good idea to call security now. Members of the Nexus show up and look like they’re about to attack Cena. Cena says “I’m not the only enemy you got around here.” Various Raw superstars attack the Nexus. Cena gives Justin Gabriel the AA on a car. That looked like it hurt. So this angle looks like it’s far from over.

Commercial

They show a replay of the Raw superstars beating up The Nexus and of course, the AA on the car.

Alicia Fox, Maryse and Tamina vs. Melina, Natalya and Gail Kim

Melina and Maryse start things out. Maryse bails to the outside and Melina chases her. She jumps on her back but Maryse fights her off. Cover by Maryse only gets one. Fox gets tagged in, she stomps Melina. Fox goes for a clothesline but Melina ducks it matrix style. Fox punches Melina while she’s down but Melina pushes her down and Fox lands back first on Melina’s knees. Santino saves us all by coming out and playing an acoustic guitar and singing to Tamina. Tamina grabs him by the neck and Santino says that he loves her strength and continues playing. So I guess Tamina’s out of the match. Does anybody care? Not me. Back in the ring. Natalya sets Alicia Fox up for the sharpshooter but Maryse makes the save. Melina takes care of her and Natalya goes right back for the sharpshooter. Fox taps.

Analysis: ½* Much like the tag match earlier in the night, the highlight involved someone who wasn’t even in the match. Santino coming out and singing to Tamina was cool. Match was bad. That was expected though.

Video package highlighting Jerry Lawler’s career. They show Lawler backstage.

Commercial

They show Maryse and Ted DiBiase backstage. Maryse makes fun of Ted for tapping out to a guy smaller than her. I want to see Bryan vs. Maryse. Ted, very loudly tells her to “shut up”and storms out. I like this new intense and more driven Ted DiBiase. Now just change that awful theme music.

Otunga and Harris are shown backstage planning something…

Josh Matthews interviews Sheamus and Morrison at the same time. I miss interviews like this. They remind me of Piper/Hart @ WM 8 and Perfect/Hart from KOTR 93. Speaking of KOTR 93, that one was good. This one thus far, has not been. Matthews mentions that Morrison beat Sheamus at the Survivor Series. Sheamus says that he made a mistake and Morrison capitalized. He pointed out that Morrison has already competed twice tonight and now has a bad arm. He said he’s “slim pickins”. Hey, I didn’t say it. Morrison shoots back and says that when that bell rings, it doesn’t matter if Sheamus is taller than him and looks like powder, the only thing that matters is that only one of them is going to walk out the king. They stare each other down as we go to commercial.

KOTR Finals
John Morrison vs. Sheamus

Will it be as good as their match at Survivor Series? Seeing as nearly all the KOTR matches have been disappointing thus far, I honestly don’t think so. Rima Fakih is the guest ring announcer for the match. No idea who she is. She enters with Santino and MAN does she look hot! Sheamus enters first. Punk says that Sheamus is his pick to win. John Morrison enters and I can’t help but think how much he deserves to be in this match. The guy has really come a long way since his failed ECW Title run. Cole plays up Morrison’s bad shoulder as the bell rings. Morrison goes right after Sheamus but Sheamus immediately goes to work on Morrison’s bad arm. He locks in an armbar early. JoMo punches him, tries to bounce off the ropes and do that turnaround kick he beat Del Rio with, but Sheamus intelligently pushes him off the ropes and Morrison lands on the floor outside the ring as they go to commercial break.

We come back from commercial and Sheamus is shown working over Morrison’s arm. They show a replay of Sheamus ramming Morrison’s shoulder into the guardrail during the break. Sheamus hits an armbreaker, goes for a cover but only gets two. Powder boy continues beating on Morrison. He clubs at his chest a few times and locks in another armbar. Morrison punches and kicks but Sheamus comes right back with a forearm of his own. Morrison hits an elbow, but Sheamus clubs him down. Morrison hits a few consecutive punches, runs the ropes and hits two clotheslines, followed by a heel kick to the jaw. He covers and gets two. He stays on Sheamus. He hits three turnbuckle punches in the corner before Sheamus is able to throw him off. That sent JoMo flying ¾’s across the ring. Sheamus misses a Brogue kick as Morrison ducks but he turns right around and clotheslines JoMo’s head off. Marty Morrison did a 360 selljob there. Sheamus gets Morrison up for the high cross, but it’s reversed it into a backslide. He can’t get the Celtic Warrior down though. Morrison elbows Sheamus and he runs into him as Sheamus attempts a backbreaker, which Morrison reverses into a really cool looking spinning DDT! He covers but only gets two after Sheamus grabbed the bottom rope. That was close. They’re both on their feet now and Sheamus gets the upper hand again as he tries to ram Morrison head into the turnbuckle, but Morrison fights out. Morrison goes up top but gets thrown hard off the turnbuckle onto the bad shoulder. Sheamus locks in a Fujiwara armbar. Morrison, while still locked into the submission gets up to a vertical base and tries to fight out. He’s able to momentarily, but Sheamus locks it in a second time and grounds Morrison once again. Morrison somersaults out of the armbar whilst kicking Sheamus in the head. Sheamus quickly grabs Morrison from behind but Morrison blindsides him with ANOTHER kick out of nowhere. Kick city. Population: Sheamus. Morrison realizes he has an opportunity and goes for Starship Pain. Sheamus gets the knees up to block it. Morrison, despite taking a double knee shot to the back remains on his feet. Sheamus gets up. Brogue Kick!! He picks Morrison up in the High Cross position. This time he’s able to hit it. 1-2-3. Sheamus is your King of the Ring!

Analysis: ***1/4 Solid match. It went about 11 minutes. Everything after the commercial break was intense. The finish was really well done too. I’d say it was just as good, if not a tad better than their Survivor Series match. The crowd was into this one a lot more than that one.

Sheamus walks up to the KOTR throne and gets crowned by Rima Fakih. He gets on the mic and says something about the Kings of Ireland that I didn’t get. He says “Long live the king!” as CM Punk says “All hail King Sheamus!” I guess this means the King of Kings returns to take on King Sheamus. Gonna be hearing the word “King” a lot during that feud.

Advert for John Cena’s new DVD. Word Life.

TLC Match for the WWE Championship
The Miz (champ) vs. Jerry Lawler

The Miz enters first with Riley. The ring is completely surrounded by tables, ladders and chairs. Cool visual. Lawler comes out second, and are those golf claps I hear? Honestly, I have respect for Lawler but this match shouldn’t even be happening. I’m really looking forward to see how they try to make this work. The bell rings, they lock up to start and Lawler hits a stiff punch to the face. The Miz gets a scoop slam and taunts the king. All the while, Cole is kissing The Miz’ ass. Lawler gets up and hits a scoop slam of his own. The Miz gets up and hits a flurry of strikes and throws Lawler to the outside. Riley hands Miz a chair and he drills Lawler with it. Twice. Miz throws Lawler back in and sets up two chairs beside each other. He sets him up for a vertical suplex on the chairs, but Lawler blocks it and goes for one of his own. The Miz floats over, however and lands on his feet. The Miz follows up with his signature neckbreaker. I think it was supposed to be on the chairs but they were out of position. Oh well. Lawler saved himself a sore neck at least. The Miz punches away at Lawler and knocks him down. He tells Riley to set up a ladder, but while The Miz is ordering Riley to set it up, Lawler is able to regroup and nail Miz with a chair a few times from behind. Those were hard shots! Lawler goes outside and punches Riley. He grabs a ladder. The Miz tries to stop Lawler from bringing it in but takes a ladder to the face for it. Lawler brings it in and tries to ram the ladder into The Miz’ gut but Miz dodges it. The Miz punches Lawler and takes control. A whip into the ladder is blocked by Lawler. Miz charges at Lawler and takes a backdrop right onto the ladder. Crowd popped big for that. Alex Riley gets up on the apron and nails Lawler. Riley tries to suplex Lawler over the top and to the outside but the king drills him with a right hand and Riley falls square onto one of the many tables that was set up outside. Lawler goes to climb up but The Miz is up too now and knocks him down. Miz hits a suplex as Cole says The Miz is making an example out of Jerry Lawler. The Miz drills Lawler with two more chairshots. The Miz stupidly climbs to the top rope and the king crotches him. Lawler attempts a superplex off the second rope but The Miz knocks him off. While sitting atop the turnbuckle, The Miz gets decked hard by Lawler and smashes through a table outside the ring. Nasty bump there. Lawler realizes that he has a chance now and starts climbing but MICHAEL COLE gets in the ring and grabs Lawler’s foot. Lawler asks him “What are you doing?!” Cole says he didn’t mean it. Lawler drills him right in the mouth! Thank God! Punk continues to commentate on his own. The Miz is up now and attempts to climb the ladder but Lawler climbs up from the other side. Both men are on the ladder now, punching each other. The Miz grabs the title and smacks it in Lawler’s face as the king falls off the ladder and hits the mat. The Miz is alone now on the ladder and he unhooks the title to win the match and retain the WWE Championship in his first title defense.

Analysis: **1/2 Pretty good match, actually. I thought it would be impossible for The Miz to work with Lawler but the whole TLC stipulation really helped them put together a solid match. It wasn’t a classic or anything of that sort, but it was pretty damn decent. At 12 minutes, this was the longest match of the night. Of course, this match was done to promote the upcoming TLC ppv and I think it did a good job of doing that. Hats off to Jerry Lawler. The Miz did most of the bumping here, but you gotta have respect for a guy who can take two chair shots and fall down a ladder at 60 years old.

Wrap up

Well, this was a long show. The actual wrestling wasn’t great overall, but there were some nice matches with Morrison vs. Sheamus being the best. Del Rio vs. Bryan was pretty good too, although way too short. Sheamus winning the King of the Ring isn’t a huge deal since he’s been WWE Champion twice. But like I said, he needed a way to get his heat back. Miz/Lawler was pretty decent, although I don’t think it was a good idea to have a newly crowned champion have a competitive match with a 60 year old legend who was never a big threat to the title at any point in his career. It made The Miz look kind of weak, especially considering his win over Orton last week is being dubbed a fluke. The Miz needs to get a big win over a viable contender soon. A decent show overall. Check out the Morrison vs. Sheamus match if you missed it. See ya Friday for Smackdown.

RAW Report 11/22/10 Orlando, Florida

RAW this week starts with Cole talking about what a gut wrenching PPV SS was last night. King talks about what Cena might do last night. Cena counted Wade out and handed Orton the Title. Because of that, Cena was fired!

Nexus’ music. Out comes Wade. Then the rest of the boys join him, lined up on the stage. They all come down to the ring. King goes on and on about Cena doing the right thing and it costing him his future in the WWE. HUGE heat for Wade and Nexus. “You suck! Chants for Wade.

Wade says last night Cena looked him in the eye – serious heat! Wade asked for some decorum and got more heat and huge “You suck!” chants. Many anti-Nexus posters. Wade says, last night – HUGE heat, again! He’s really bloody hated! Then the “You suck!” and “Cena” chants. Wade says, hard luck, I fired him, then sneered. Shall he try again? Last night Cena looked him in the eye and told him he knew what he was doing. That means two things. Number one, he was willing to sacrifice his entire career for what he felt was the right thing. Number two, he went into that match without a fighting chance. Cena knew Wade wouldn’t become Champion. Cena went in biased and that’s not fair. In the entire history of the WWE, an officially has never once been allowed to place his hands on a competitor, but that’s what Cena did. He distracted Wade, then pushed him into an RKO. He doesn’t think an injustice is something they should cheer. It was unjust, unfair and unprofessional. That’s why he’s out there. In the name of justice he’d like another opportunity to take on Orton. This time with a neutral ref to prove he can beat Orton and become Champion.

Ding-Ding! Cole calls for attention and gets heat. And I quote, “There’s no question that there’s some validity to this supposition by Wade Barrett. And there’s no doubt in my mind that Randy Orton would like to prove his individual superiority. Therefore, the WWE Championship will be defended when Wade Barrett faced Randy Orton for the Title and it will happen, tonight.”

Wade really likes this idea. He thanks the GM for such a gracious decision, he’s greatly appreciative. But in anticipation of such an announcement, he’s decided to let Cena appear here tonight. Don’t get me wrong, he enjoyed firing him last night, but as a fellow competitor and a gentleman, he felt he owed it to Cena to allow him to come say his final words to the WWE Universe. Believe Wade, he’ll enjoy listening to those final words, almost as much as he’ll enjoy becoming the WWE Champion.

Nexus leaves the ring. King asks if Cole read that email right. Cole wonders if Cena will show tonight. King can’t believe Wade uses the words fairness after what he’s done. They go on to talk about the main event. Cole then says Cena will be there live on RAW.

- Commercial

King and Cole talk about King Of The Ring coming up. Cole says he has an announcement. Cole stands and announces the newest member of the RAW announce team. Cole says CM Punk will be joining the team. King was confused. Cole said King surprised him with JR, so – Punk out to announce and says he’s there for the foreseeable future. (I said last week that I think Punk’s fabby on announce!

KOTR Qualifying Match – Sheamus Vs. R-Truth w/ Eve

Justin announced this match and Sheamus who came out to the ring. R-Truth out singing, Eve dancing. Cole doesn’t like Eve’s dancing, says she looks like she’s having an epileptic fit. Punk says R-Truth needs to stop rapping and work on his wrestling skills. No way he’s getting through Sheamus. Cheap pop for Orlando from R-Truth.

Sheamus backs R-Truth into a corner, then a side headlock takeover by Sheamus. They grapple a bit on the mat. Side headlock back on and keeps a tight hold on R-Truth. Up, down to the mat, then up to their feet again. Sheamus again takes R-Truth down, head under Sheamus’ arm! Back to their feet, and R-Truth free. They exchange blows. R-Truth whipped, but floats over. R-Truth ducks under Sheamus’ clothesline, then kicks Sheamus in the face. Sheamus from the ring as Punk says ‘vintage’ R-Truth! Cole is upset that Punk stole his line!

- Commercial

Arm bar on R-Truth, knee on the side of his head on the mat. Sheamus works him over hard! Eve gets the fans going from outside. R-Truth up and punches out. Knee stops R-Truth and Sheamus pins for two. Arm hold on R-Truth, back on the mat. Sheamus and R-Truth sell the hold even though it’s very obviously nothing. Up to their feet, R-Truth with punches, but then Sheamus slams R-Truth down hard, then pins him for two. Dueling “Let’s go Sheamus” and “Let’s go R-Truth” chants!

Jaw breaker to Sheamus and they both need to regroup. Sheamus rushes R-Truth in a corner, R-Truth moves, Sheamus shoulder first into the corner. R-Truth on Sheamus with blows and kicks. A couple clotheslines to Sheamus, then a ‘What’s up?’ R-Truth runs into a back elbow but hit’s a hip toss and R-Truth pins for two. R-Truth tries to suplex but is blocked. Sheamus gets R-Truth on his shoulder, but R-Truth slides off. R-Truth kicks Sheamus high in a corner. R-Truth out to the apron and climbs. Missile dropkick to Sheamus for two.

R-Truth first to his feet, but then ends up rolled up for two. Brogue kick from Sheamus, but Sheamus doesn’t cover. Sheamus pulls R-Truth up and sets up for his finisher and is able to hit the high cross for three.

Winner – Sheamus Qualifies for KOTR

- Commercial

Lay-Cool backstage. They’re talking about losing their Titles. They’re stopped on their way into the arena. This is the entrance for the RAW Superstars. Their names aren’t on his list. Natalya walks up. He asks her if she knows them. “Never saw them a day before in my life.” He then throws them out. The fans love it.

Backstage Santino talks to Kozlov about losing last night. They were so close to winning he could taste it and it was delicious! Kozlov quietly said they’ll beat them next time. Tomorrow is another day. Santino says tomorrow’s not guaranteed. He’s so depressed! Is there anything that can make him feel better. Music playing, Tamina singing to Santino. He leans for a kiss and she plants one on him. She stands, mouths for him to call her. He melts.

Backstage Orton’s readying, Josh shows up. He says Orton defeated Wade last night, can he do it again tonight. Orton says anyone who saw SS knows Cena called his match down the middle. He could have taken the easy way out, but didn’t. He counted the 1-2-3 and for that it cost him his career. It’s no secret they’ve never been the best of friends, but he respects the hell out of Cena. As far as his match tonight, it doesn’t matter who the ref is, Orton guarantees Wade’s not leaving this arena with the Title. The fans love that!

WWE Slam Of The Week – Zeke taking out everyone in his path with straight out power!

- Commercial

King and Cole with Punk at announce talking about Cena arriving. King says Wade’s either here to gloat or it’s a trap. Punk says it can’t be a trap, Cena’s already fired.

Cena out, smirk on his face, all goofy. Smiles, salute, then down to the ring. He bounces around in the ring, then throws his hat out to a fan. He talks to people, notices signs, then poses for the fans. He actually gets some pop, though some heat still. Cena says if you’re going to go out, that’s how you do it, not in a ref’s shirt, not carrying someone’s bags. If he’s leaving, then he’s going out like this! “Cena” chants fill the arena. Cena says in case you’ve been locked in sports entertainment solitary confinement, Randy Orton’s still the WWE Champion. Means Cena’s fired. Huge heat. A decision that was probably, but he didn’t think it would happen.

Forget about it! Before this job, he was living in his car cleaning toilets. He didn’t think any of it would happen! Over the years the fans gave got to know him. Here’s the deal though, you only see what you see on TV. There’s a lot about him and everybody else that the fans don’t know. He only has a few seconds so he has to tell us one thing – you guys have no idea how much he respects this company. Not just this company today, but every single person who’s allowed him to be there today. Guys like Steve Austin, HHH, HBK, Taker. When he got a chance in the WWE, championships were one thing, but his goat was to be able to look each of them in the eye and for them to say back to him, you’re alright. He’s out there with a smile on his face and many thinks he might have got a bad deal out of this. This has been pretty wonderful. He’s got to dance in this ring with HOFers. He got to travel the world, meet millions and millions of people and live out a fantasy. So he’s not going to let what Nexus doing to him the past couple months ruin what’s been the best nine years of his life.

One thing the fans might not know, life moves pretty fast in the WWE. He remembers when he started, the WWE was a very big part of his life. Then, the WWE became his life. It was by his choice. He wanted to give every thing he had to each fan. Every time he stepped in these ropes! It takes sacrifice. His family has been so patient with him. They’ve let him step back and be him and be okay with it. His brother Matt just had a baby girl and he missed it. (Cena’s in tears!) His mom’s birthday is in a couple days (My Mom’s is today!). He laughs. He’s going to leave here tonight and go to West Newbury tonight. Matt and Cov, he’s sorry he missed Shelby being born. Hear she’s big, 9lbs 7oz. Missed her being born, but he’s coming to see her for the first time. His mom is going to get the best birthday present in ten years because he’s going to hug her and tell her he loves her. Can’t buy her that!

Cena’s bawling! “Cena!” chants. He says they’re being nice, he looks like an idiot up there. Forget it, if he’s going to be an idiot, he’s going to be an idiot. One thing he’s always loved is the fans are always honest. If he’s walking out one more time, he wants to hear half the arena yell, ‘Let’s go Cena’ and the other half say – No, if we’re going to do it, we’re going to do it right. He wants every woman and every child say ‘Let’s go Cena’ and every guy over the age of 18 say, ‘Cena sucks!’ Is that alright? It got messed up, so he got them going again and they were perfect! Loudest I’ve veer heard them and he smiled so brightly! Cena mouthed to the camera that they’re still going. He had to step in to stop the chants! They might still be going if he hadn’t! He said it was beautiful and thanked them for it. He reminds the fans that it’s our passion that keeps all of them coming back. Every single time he heard it, he knew he earned it, no matter what the chant.

He wants to take one second before he leaves and says something to Wade Barrett. Heat from the fans. He says he knows, but here’s the shame of it all, he actually thinks the kid (even though Cena’s less than three years older that Wade!) has a little bit of talent and wants to help him out before Cena leaves. See Wade, do yourself a favor, take a bit of advice from a grizzled, disgruntled ex-employee who wears purple and may have accidentally peed in your coffee once or twice, stop taking shortcuts. Stop trying to take the easy way out. These fans will give you everything if you give everything in return. Success in this business is due to consistent performance, day in and day out. Give them everything and they will give everything back to you. They’re probably going to fine him, but they’ve already fired him – Wade, karma’s a bitch! (Of course they bleeped most of that out!) The fans love it though! If you keep taking shortcuts, trust him, it will come back to haunt you. Cena then says Billy Kidman’s probably about ready to strangle himself because he’s way over what they told him. He could go into thank you’s, but that would take all night, so he’s going to save the thank you lists to one very important thank you. For the WWE Universe. Thanks you for letting him share his life with us for the past nine years. Thank you for understanding all this. Thank you for standing up for the WWE. Thank you for showing up everyday. Thank you for watching every Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, whenever WWE’s on. Thank you for allowing idiots like him to come out and live this wonderful, wonderful dream. It’s all because of us. I love you to death, let’s go home! He kisses his dog tags, leaves the ring and up the ramp. On the stage he stops, smiles, turns, kisses again, then salutes and leaves with his head held high.

Women in the crowd are in tears. Kids look to be in shock. One smiled when he realized he was on TV.

Backstage Cena walks out through the wrestlers and refs, all clapping. At the end is Orton. Orton walks up, they shake, then hug. Cena walks out (and his limo blows up?). Nope, Wade steps up behind Cena, gives the ‘you can’t see me’ face wave, then turns to the camera smiling.

The damage has already been done. “You suck” chants for Wade in the ring as he argues with the ref. Orton’s music and he limps out to the ring, selling in a big way. From the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida
Results by: Sean Hopkins

We open the show with a video package highlighting the history of tonight’s event, as well as the main feuds heading into the show. The pyro hits, and Michael Cole welcomes us to the show. He immediately begins hyping the WWE Championship match that will ultimately decide John Cena’s fate.

WWE United States Championship Match
- Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Ted DiBiase w/Maryse

We go right to the ring, and Ted DiBiase Jr.’s music hits, signaling our first championship match of the night. DiBiase makes his way down to the ring with Maryse in tow. Bryan’s music hits, and he’s the next man out to the ring, to a decent amount of love from the crowd, and hate from Cole, of course.

The start:

The bell rings and both men lock up. Bryan works over DiBiase’s arm, but it’s quickly turned around on him. Bryan is able to get out of it and hit a dropkick and the lights go down for no reason at all. They come back up and Bryan catches DiBiase with a big boot in the midsection. DiBiase rolls out to the apron and catches Bryan in the stomach with a shoulder. DiBiase traps Bryan and suplexes him from inside the ring out to the floor.

Mid-match notes:

DiBiase rolls Bryan back into the ring, lays in a couple of elbows across his throat, and goes up to the middle rope to drop a double ax handle, again across Bryan’s throat. Bryan falls to the outside but he’s quickly rolled back in. DiBiase goes for the cover but he’s only able to get a two count. Bryan stuns DiBiase with a big European uppercut, and another. Bryan scores with a kick, but he’s taken down to the mat by DiBiase and pounded for a little bit before DiBiase attempts another pinfall. DiBiase goes right into a rear chin lock as soon as Bryan kicks out, but Bryan is able to fight out of it, only to be planted across DiBiase’s knee with a backbreaker, and stood up for a dropkick. DiBiase locks in another rear chin lock.

Bryan is able to fight to his feet, and avoids a suplex from DiBiase only to come back with a beautiful dropkick into the corner. Bryan lays into DiBiase with a series of kicks, backflips over DiBiase in the corner, and lands a sliding lariat. Bryan throws DiBiase to the outside and hits a beautiful suicide dive, only to immediately get up grabbing his shoulder. Bryan’s a great worker, but even if he’s seriously injured, he’s worked longer matches with worse injuries. Bryan hits a shotgun missile dropkick from the top rope that’s good for a two count. Bryan kicks DiBiase square in the chest about eight times before going for another. DiBiase grabs his leg but finds himself caught in a small package for two. Bryan goes for the LaBell lock, but DiBiase fights it off and hits an awesome clothesline that’s good for a two count.

DiBiase tries for the Dream street, but Bryan is able to counter, and runs up into the corner, forcing DiBiase into a pinning predicament. DiBiase kicks out but holds on to the million dollar dream. Bryan fights out but he’s immediately put back down by DiBiase. DiBiase takes Bryan to the corner and buries his shoulder in Bryan’s midsection before placing him on the top rope. Bryan slips under a superplex attempt and DiBiase ends up perched on the top rope instead. Bryan connects with a beautiful high angle back superplex, and he immediately goes back to holding his shoulder before going for a pin.

The finish:

Bryan only gets a two but tries to transition directly into the LaBell lock, only for DiBiase to slingshot him into the corner. DiBiase tries for a quick pin, but Bryan fights out, locks in the LaBell lock, and forces DiBiase to tap.

Winner & STILL WWE US Champion: Daniel Bryan

Bryan makes his way up the ramp, holding his title in the air, only to be attacked from behind by the Miz, who hits him with his Money in the Bank briefcase.

Miz makes his way into the ring with Alex Riley in tow. The lights go down again, randomly, and then come back up. Miz immediately begins running down Miami, saying he’s from Cleveland, and comparing LeBron James to Wade Barrett, saying they both feel entitled to a championship. Miz says Wade might, but LeBron will never be a champion. Miz continues to run down LeBron James. Miz says all Barrett and Orton need to know is that he’s tired of carrying around his briefcase, so it’s not a matter of if, but rather, when. Miz does his catchphrase, and again the lights dim and come back up randomly.

Sheamus is backstage with Josh Matthews. Sheamus says tonight isn’t about him being a bully, it’s about jealousy, because Morrison will never be a WWE Champion. Sheamus says he won’t shove Morrison’s head in a toilet, but instead will break his will, and his body.

Singles Match
- Sheamus vs. John Morrison

Sheamus is the first man out to the ring to a little bit of heat from the Miami crowd. Morrison is out next, and he gets a decent pop.

The start:

The bell rings and both men lock up. Sheamus backs Morrison into the corner and slaps him in the face. Morrison responds with forearms and right hands, but Sheamus is quick to slam his head into the turnbuckle. Morrison responds with a hurricarana, and a dropkick that sends Sheamus to the outside. Morrison executes a corkscrew dive to the outside on top of Sheamus and beats on him for bit, only to be shoved hard into the ringside barricade.

Mid-match notes:

Sheamus hits a double ax handle smash to Morrison’s head before sending him back into the ring and going for the cover, getting a two count. Sheamus hits Morrison with a series of knee drops before simply standing on Morrison’s head. Sheamus picks up Morrison for a short arm clothesline and scores another near fall before locking in a rear chin lock.

Morrison is able to fight back up to his feet, but Sheamus puts him right back down to the mat and begins stomping away. Sheamus picks Morrison up and props him against the ropes so that he can club away at his back. Sheamus hits a reverse DDT, planting Morrison on his knee, and it’s good for another two count.

Sheamus lock in a submission focused on Morrison’s shoulder, but Morrison is able to fight up to his feet. Morrison scores a couple of punches, but runs right into a high knee from Sheamus that puts him right back on the mat. Sheamus picks Morrison up and clubs across Morrison’s chest repeatedly. Sheamus goes for another cover but still can’t score a three count.

Morrison continues to attempt to fight back, but Sheamus puts him right back down with a big right hand. Sheamus picks Morrison up and places him on the top rope. When Sheamus begins to climb though, he’s punches away by Morrison. Sheamus is quick to come back, jumping up the ropes and pounding down repeatedly on Morrison’s back. Sheamus goes for a superplex, but Morrison holds on, fights back, and sends Sheamus down to the mat with a big forearm. Morrison hits a cross body from the top, but Sheamus rolls through, holding on to Morrison, and plants him with a huge slam that’s good for another near fall.

Sheamus stalks Morrison and tries for the bicycle kick, but Morrison avoids it and scores an enzugiri, stunning Sheamus and knocking him down to the mat. Sheamus and Morrison are both up and trading blows in the middle of the ring. Sheamus tries for a slam, but Morrison reverses out, hits a couple of clotheslines and a big heel kick that’s good for a two count. Morrison comes right back to it, kicking Sheamus in the chest, but he walks right into the Irish curse backbreaker, but it’s still not enough to keep Morrison down for a three count.

Sheamus tries for the high cross, but Morrison counters it and slingshots Sheamus into the corner. Morrison follows up with a Russian leg sweep, but it’s only good for another two count. Morrison hits Sheamus with a series of right hands in the corner. Sheamus tosses Morrison up to the second rope and Sheamus takes out Morrison’s knee from behind with a big clothesline. Sheamus continues with assault on Morrison’s leg, hitting an impressive slam, using Morrison’s leg. Sheamus locks in a half crab, and Morrison struggles to the ropes. He catches hold of the bottom rope to break the hold. Morrison slides in from the apron under Sheamus and scores a quick near fall, but Sheamus kicks out at two and goes right back to Morrison’s leg. Sheamus holds on to one of Morrison’s leg and slaps him in the face, only to be kicked into the corner.

The finish:

Morrison tries for Starship Pain, but Sheamus blocks it with a big right hand, stopping Morrison. Sheamus tries for the high cross but Morrison fights out, he also avoids a bicycle kick, and comes back with a flash kick, and a beautiful shining wizard. Morrison pins Sheamus and this one is over.

Winner: John Morrison

John Cena is shown pacing around backstage. R-Truth comes back and says he knows it’s none of his business. Cena interrupts and says none of this is his business. Truth says Nexus is banned from ringside tonight, but Truth is not. Truth says what’s to stop him from coming down to the ring, and something accidentally happening to Orton. Cena gets to keep his job, guilt free. Cena runs down the plan and says he wouldn’t be able to look himself in the mirror, and that he’d be a joke. He says he’s calling this down the middle, and that’s the truth. Truth says he’ll believe it when he sees it.

WWE RAW Results November 15, 2010

This weeks three hour ‘Old School’ RAW starts with the old WWF logo, then the crossed out the Federation and put in Entertainment. Then to the show. Cole and King standing there – both in historic announce gear, right down to the gold blazer with the red WWF on Cole! Cole introduced himself as VKM and King as Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura. Then they laughed and Cole introduced himself and King correctly. Cole says it will be ‘vintage’ RAW! King says his memories are in black and white, so why is Cole there. King goes on and says there’s a ton of legends there, most not looking a day older than dead! The siren going the whole time.

In the ring Justin – the screen text is even old school – with a bad blue tux, shag wig and announces Mean Gene Okerlund. He comes out to that odd old stage they used to have. He says tonight RAW goes Old School. He introduces the first HOFer – Cowboy Bob Orton. Orton out with his cast and hat on. He says Randy isn’t there, didn’t know they’re starting an hour early. Do you think he’ll walk out of SS Champion? Randy’s always done what he wants. He had to go to school because the teachers thought he’d beat them up. He said he didn’t care! He doesn’t care if Cena’s Special Guest Ref. He doesn’t care about Cena’s career. He doesn’t care if Wade gets an RKO. If Cena gets an RKO, then he takes Cena’s limp wrist and counts 1-2-3 on the mat! Randy will walk out of there -

They’re cut off by Wade who comes stomping out to where Mean Gene and Orton are. Heat for Wade. He calls Orton ‘old man’ and says his predictions are as phony as that cast. He’ll beat Randy and do something he couldn’t do, become the WWE Champion. They didn’t pave his way, he got here himself. He’ll be Champion on Sunday when Cena raises his hand. The reason he didn’t bring Nexus out there to beat down Orton is because Wade wants him to see Randy beaten down on Sunday. Same for Mean Gene. Mean Gene didn’t like that, but -

Miz out, Riley in tow. Riley in an old RAW Is War shirt. Miz says it’s just that simple? Last week when he told Randy that he’d be on his team, Randy didn’t thank him. He just stared him down with squinty Orton eyes, like those. That was a bad move. He sent a message right back to Randy and changed the landscape of the Ten Man Match, like cashing in the mitl. Maybe he’ll do it when Randy shows tonight. That would change things, wouldn’t it Wade. Then he wouldn’t be able to face Randy, then Cena would be in Nexus forever.

Cena calls to Miz from the tron. He stumbles over his words and says Miz has this weird gift of ruining everything he touches. Fascinating actually. Make sure he cashes in nothing tonight. At SS he’ll be free or fired. That stipulation will stand. He normally follows Wade’s orders, but will protect Wade. Trust him! He then challenges Miz to a match tonight. Of course Miz is looking at his assistant Riley. Miz, if you’re as awesome as you say you are, simply accept. Miz argues with Riley. Cena yells at him, asks if he accepts? Miz loudly accepts!

Mean Gene says there you have it. Tonight RAW is Old School! He then talks to Orton off mic a bit.

- Commercial

Dolph and Vickie out, Dolph in the corner of the screen talks about how they’re the power couple since Savage and Miss Elisabeth. Mark Henry as Sexual Chocolate out in his old ring gear, right down to his entrance music! Cole thinks it’s too much! They’re in metal folding chairs, he doesn’t like it and wants his leather chair back!

Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Vs. Mark Henry

Elbow drop to the back of Henry’s head. “Chocolate!” chants. Ads across the bottom of the screen for Knucklehead. Clotheslines to Dolph, then a head butt.

Dolph back on Henry with chops, but Henry back with a sick power slam. Henry pins, but Dolph gets a foot on the ropes. Henry makes more eyes at Vickie, gets the fans going and tries to splash Dolph, but Dolph moves. “Chocolate” chants. Zigzag to Henry for two. Cole comments on the refs in old school ring gear. Dolph slammed Henry back to the mat for two. Sleeper on Henry on the mat. He’s fading. The ref raises Henry’s arm three times and it drops.

Winner – Dolph

Nexus backstage and Otunga says he stepped up. Now it’s time one of them do the same. R-Truth has become a real problem. Since he’s a leader there – Wade in and asked when he became the leader. Otunga says he’s a leader here. Wade says someone does need to take R-Truth out and that will be Otunga. Otunga agrees to it, they’ve had beef since NXT anyway.

Ding-Ding! Heat for Cole, of course! And I quote, “Barrett, David Otunga will not face R-Truth as Otunga will compete in a special match later on tonight. As for R-Truth, he will be in action against you Wade Barrett. What a better way to prove to everyone that despite who the ref is this Sunday, you are truly WWE championship material.”

Wade says the GM raises a very good point. Husky says they have his back. Wade thanks him and says that’s the loyalty he expects from Nexus. But no thanks. Everyone seems to think this all weighs on Cena, he’s going out there to prove he can beat anyone on the RAW roster on his own.

What do you want? Cena, over to the side, says he wanted to make sure Wade had a grasp on the meltdown and see if Wade wanted to thank him for taking care of Miz tonight? Wade says no thanks from him. Wade says Husky and McGillicutty need to follow Cena to the ring to make sure Randy doesn’t try anything. Cena told ‘Hasky’ to be easy and don’t move ‘MAGillicutty’, if Miz wants some, he can come get some.

He’ll have to wait until WM when Miz is WWE Champion!

They stare off, but then a bunch of refs in old ring gear, and men in suits stumble into the ring, falling all over each other. “Let them fight!” chants.

Ding-Ding! Heat for the GM or Cole. And I quote, “It’s obvious that Cena and Orton have issues they have to work out prior to SS. Since this is Old School, I can’t think of a better forum than in this very ring, with a man who isn’t afraid to ask the tough questions. Cena, Orton both of you will be guests on Piper’s Pit!” Cena couldn’t hide the smile from his face, but I honestly can’t blame him.

Spilt screen – Cena and Randy heading for the ring.

- Commercial

Justin calls the legends out to the ring and they all come out to line up on the stage. Chavo Classic looks almost as out of it as Snuka as they come out. Justin announces each of them as he goes down the line.

Rowdy Roddy Piper out to the ring, kilt on, sporan all spiffed out. He looks older, but better than he looked last time we saw him. Very quickly he gets a “Roddy” chant. He’s ready to make history, old school. Old school isn’t a happy feely time. It’s about a time you had to man up, step up to the plate. When Captain Lou was getting an award and he didn’t like it? He smashed Lou in the face with a gold record! Snuka! When Snuka became a hit shot, Piper hit him in the head with a coconut. It was a time when you had a problem, you did something about it and that’s what he hopes to accomplish tonight! Give an old school welcome to a new school kid, John Cena! He holds it together to the ring, but is glowing. Cena wants to talk, Piper stops him. Shakes Cena’s hand, says Cena’s a big boy. He’s been a fan of Cena’s for a long time. Piper’s been competing over 30 years and he’s never been the WWE Champion. It does eat at him. Many others, DiBiase, Steamboat, Snuka, Mr. Perfect never, ever became the WWE Champion. If you’re gonna do what I think you’re gonna do and give that SOB Wade Barrett the WWE Championship without him deserving it. Then what you’re doing is spitting in the face of all those legends you say you respect. He’s asking, don’t you spit in my face Cena. You’ve been a man ever since you’ve come. You’ve been a man from the very first day you walked in. consequences be damned! Do the right thing. Do the right thing.

Cena says the right thing. For weeks he’s heard free or fired. At times he doesn’t know what the right thing is. It’s not that easy. From the moment he got here he’s been working as hard as he can, so that when guys like you look at where the WWE is today, they look at Cena and say that he could have hung with them. You have no idea the respect Cena has for Piper, King, all of the legends. Looking around on Old School night. He looked up to them all as a kid. They were his heroes. Cena says he’s been thinking that after all the work he’s done he hands over the Championship he’ll be free. Free from what? He won’t be the guy they look at and say he’s one of us! He’ll be the guy who gave Wade the Championship! All that work will be out the door! A fan yells, “Never give up!” Cena turns, points and says, “You’re damn right!” so, everybody wants to know his decision. If Orton wins, he earns it. If Wade wins, he earns it. He’s calling it down the middle.

Well said, well said Cena, bravo! Of course Wade comes out and gets into it. He says he agrees with Cena 100%, call it down the middle. He doesn’t need Cena’s help. He proved tonight he can beat anyone on the RAW roster without Cena’s help! Cena, those were magnificent words, but that’s the problem, they’re just words. They both know there’s a reality in place here. The reality is that if Wade’s hand isn’t raised, Cena’s finished, all over. Piper puts his hand over Wade’s mic and tells him to shut up. If Wade lets Cena give him the WWE Championship. Damn it look at me when I’m talking to you! Huge pop! At the end of the day you may have the Championship, but you won’t be no Champion. You’ll just be a joke. Cena’s smiling at Piper as if he’s in love. Wade asks Piper who he is to pass judgment on Wade? Piper wants to talk about a joke? One way or other, this is Cena’s final night on RAW as part of Nexus. It might be Cena’s final night on RAW. On Sunday he either sets Cena free or he fires him! Cena, if this is indeed your final RAW as part of Nexus, he wants to do something he should have done weeks ago. He’s disappointed in himself for waiting this long!

Wade pulls the Nexus shirt off his shoulder and holds it up. Wade tells Cena to put it on. Take that monstrosity you’re wearing off and put this on. If you don’t put it on, I’ll fire you on the spot. Cena’s hat went to the fans, then his shirt went out as Piper tries to grab it from Cena. Cena puts on the Nexus shirt as Wade smirks. Cena asks Wade if he’s happy and he hopes so. Wade’s his boss until Sunday. When that match is over, win or lose he turns Wade’s face into mush. Wade says Nexus might be banned from ringside, but the moment his hand is raised, they will be out to neutralize any threat from Cena. Face it Cena, he was Cena in his back pocket. He can make Cena history, like that.

Randy Orton’s music and out he comes. Orton grabs his mic and tells Cena, ever since Cena counted 1-2-3 on Orton last week, all he can think about is ending it all by kicking Cena in the skull and taking him out. Cena says they tried this earlier. He’s right here, what’s stopping him? Orton says nothing, except he’s thought of a better option. He could take Cena out, or – Orton attacks Wade. Wade rushes Orton, right into that really fast scoop slam. Orton pounds the mat, but Cena stood between them.

Cena kicks back at Wade slightly, then eats an RKO. Piper drops down and leaves the ring – smart man at his age! Orton lines up to punt Cena. Wade over to Orton and Orton sends Wade from the ring. Orton runs at Cena, but Cena moves before the punt. Cena gets Orton up and hits an AA. Orton rolls around holding his head as Cena holds his neck and seems to be totally pissed off. Wade back in all smiles. Wade tells Cena to raise his hand, now! Cena chants, led by Piper on mic. Cena gets Wade up, hits an AA on him. Off comes the Nexus shirt. Cena wipes his face in it, then he slams it down on Wade. On the ramp Piper raises Cena’s arm. Cena then poses on the stage.
