Don Harris PROFILE |
Don Harris profile written by
Wayne K. Wilkins
Don Harris is a professional wrestler and a
member of the first Twin Brother tag team to
ever emerge in the world of professional
wrestling along with his brother Ron Harris,
collectively, they are known as The Harris
Brothers, Creative Control, Disciples of
Destruction and many other names that they have
gone by over the years. Don Harris is also the
older brother of fellow professional wrestler
"Prime Time" "Bulldozer" Brian Lee. While his
brother Ron has achieved success and
championships as both a tag team wrestler and a
singles wrestler, the majority of Don's success
is primarily in the tag team ranks of our sport.
Don Harris' first mainstream attention came
to pass in the late 1990's in the World
Wrestling Federation along with his brothers Ron
Harris and Brian Lee, as well as the late Brian
"Crush" Addams. They were known as the Disciples
of Apocalypse, a renown biker gang who would do
whatever it took to win, complete with the
leathers and the chains and the gang-like names,
the stint however was short lives and Don
eventually left the WWF.
He made a return
to World Championship wrestling in late 1999 ad
a member of "Creative Control" with his brother
Ron Harris, they were originally bought in as
the bodyguard for the "powers that be" a term
used for the power control of WCW, who later
emerged to be Vince Russo. They also went on to
claim the World Tag Team Championships in WCW as
well as having feuds with the likes of The
Mamalukes and several other new-age WCW tag
teams.
After the WCW was purchased by
Vince McMahon and the WWF, Don Harris took a
break from professional wrestling, unlike his
brother Ron who never left. When Total Nonstop
Action opened its doors in 2002, Don Harris
became an immediate part of the organization as
a security guard for the company, this of course
was a mixture of both kayfabe and reality; He
was a real security guard during his time spent
there, but he was also on the verge of a singles
push, something he had never embarked on in his
career until then.
He had several bloody
matches with a man by the name of Malice,
representing the Disciples of the New Church
under the evil managerial of Father James
Mitchell, after his victory over Malice, the two
shook hands which caused a subsequent rivalry in
the New Church and Malice left shortly after for
betraying' James Mitchell, but would later
return for a short time later.
Don
resumed his roll as security, having numerous
encounters with his brother Ron along the way
supposedly setting up for a match between the
two as Don would often pull his brother off a
victim at he end of a match and throw him out of
the ring until the two would face off and
neither would back down. However, the pair
reunited shortly after Vince Russo's arrival to
TNA in 2003 and they reformed their Harris
Brothers tag-team under the faction of Sports
Entertainment Xtreme. I like to refer to Don as
"The Flying Harris' to my friends who can not
seem to tell The Harris Brothers apart, this is
because, Don, being the bigger of the two
brothers, is also the one who tends to make high
risk moves such as Suicide Dives through and
over the top ropes.
Don stayed with TNA
until 2005 serving as both an on-screen and
off-screen talent as a wrestler and a security
guard, but eventually retired from the sport in
2005.
Don rarely makes wrestling
appearances, but can still occasionally be seen
on the American independent circuit. He is
currently a sound and light worker for music and
film events, as well as serving as a bouncer and
bodyguard.
