Macho Madness: The Randy Savage Ultimate Collection

by: Mike Shannon (DLman91@hotmail.com)

-NEVER thought I would see the day....

Disc 1

-YOUR hosts are Matt Striker (who does an AWESOME Savage impression) and Maria (who provides the cleavage).

-We get history of Angelo Poffo, Randy's father, who held the world sit-up record. Savage played minor league baseball before joining his dad's outlaw ICW wrestling promotion to wage a territory war against Jerry Jarrett. Quickly, we segue into his WWE debut, leading to...

Randy Savage vs. Rick McGraw
This is Savage's WWF debut in July 1985. He is announced as "wrestling's number one free agent" and jaws with the crowd and Howard Finkel on his way to the ring, still working the Memphis heel act. McGraw was actually mentioned in Bret Hart's autobiography for swallowing an amazing amount of drugs every night and passing out face-first in his dinner place. Lovely. After fighting over a lockup, Savage bails to the outside and gets nailed with a beer. McGraw wants to keep going, so Savage spits at him and stalls some more with posing. Finally, we get going again as Randy grabs an armbar (using the hair of course) and yells at Mean Gene, who is on announcing duty along with Gorilla Monsoon. McGraw tries to bring Savage down with a headscissors, but gets dropped on the top rope and takes a sleeper.

McGraw manages to comeback with an airplane spin into a Samoan drop but Savage is in the ropes. Monkey flip hits and McGraw gets a backslide for two, so Savage takes a powder. Savage comes back in and gets a snapmare followed by an elbow drop for two. Suplex gets another two count. McGraw ducks an elbow, but another one sends him to the outside, where Savage follows with a double axe handle from the top rope. That one got the crowd buzzing. McGraw tries to get back in, but Randy suplexes him on the floor, which has Gene and Gorilla calling for a disqualification. McGraw finally fights his way in and Randy misses a butt splash on the ropes, allowing McGraw to send him upside down into the corner. McGraw stomps away but eventually gets caught with a clothesline, enabling Savage to hit the flying elbow for the win.
Winner: Randy Savage

-Savage had a good deal of heat already, but the match had too much stalling and too many dead spots to be anything better than average. *3/4

-Striker and Maria recap the manager bidding war for Savage (an angle they would repeat with Bam Bam Bigelow) before Randy picks Miss Elizabeth, thus beginning my 20 year love affair with a manager. Interestingly enough, the original character of Elizabeth was a conniving bitch who was a shrewd businesswoman, but she fit into the mold of a sweet, innocent woman so well that they went that route instead.

Trish who?

Randy Savage vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
This is from the Boston Garden in December 1985 and Jesse Ventura is on commentary, ensuring that the Savage bias will be in full swing. Savage gets a cheapshot before the bell then drags Elizabeth in front of him when Steamboat tries to retaliate. The bell rings and Steamer goes nuts on Randy, sending him to the outside and ramming Savage shoulder-first into the post. Jesse is upset. Back inside, Steamboat stays on the shoulder with an armbar and uses gravity for leverage. Randy tries to go to the apron to break, but Steamboat drags him back in, hitting a shoulderblock and going back to the armbar. Savage breaks using the hair and tries to run away, but the Dragon catches him in the ring and goes right back to the arm with a hammerlock.

Criss-cross leads to Savage bailing again, but he gets distracted by the fans, which allows Dragon to bring him back in the ring, hit his AWESOME armdrags and go back to the armbar. Savage fights out and dumps Steamboat, who skins the cat back in, but Randy is waiting for him and slugs him to the floor then follows with a top rope axe handle. A running knee sends Steamboat into the front row and Savage brings him back in the ring the hard way. Elbow from the second rope gets two and Savage falls on top of a slam attempt for another two. Randy goes for the flying elbow too early and it misses, allowing the Dragon to counter an atomic drop and hit one of his own. Now Steamboat goes up top too quickly and gets slammed off, but Randy gets caught with a shot to the gut coming off the top and takes a vertical suplex for two. Chop off the ropes sets up some more chops for the Dragon, but Savage gets to the ropes and the referee has to pull him off. While this is going on, Savage slips a foreign object out of his tights (no, not that you sick bastards) and nails the Dragon with it and gets the pin.
Winner: Randy Savage

-Post-match, Steamboat attacks and shows the international object to the crowd, setting the stage for the rematch. Savage-Steamboat is always good for a solid match-up and this was no different. It hold a good story of Steamer working the arm and frustrating Savage by countering all his stuff until Macho Man had to resort to cheating to get the win. ***

-Maria talks about Savage being one of the most hated men in wrestling.

WWF World Championship
Randy Savage vs. Hulk Hogan
It's so weird typing "WWF" after being brainwashed to type WWE all the time. After only 5 months in the promotion, Savage is already headlining Madison Square Garden against Hogan and that's a BIG deal folks. Hogan's pop is UNREAL. Savage mocks Hogan's posing, but gets overpowered on a lockup and has to recompose himself on the apron. A Hogan shoulderblock causes Savage to bail and hide next to Liz, then tosses a chair in the ring to show frustration. This crowd is RABID for Hogan. After more stalling, Savage goes to the eyes and hits a kneedrop to the throat, but misses a splash against the ropes and Hogan hammers away. Corner clothesline puts Savage down and sets up an atomic drop that sends Randy to the outside, where he hides behind Elizabeth again. The crowd HATES this.

Back inside, Savage hits a snapmare but he gets caught on a high cross body attempt and takes a backbreaker. Again, Savage rolls to the outside and hides behind Elizabeth, frustrating Hogan and the crowd. Randy gets control back inside and hits an axe handle off the second rope for two, then dumps Hulk outside and follows with a double axe from the top. Savage keeps beating on him inside, but Hulk decides enough is enough and Hulks up. Clothesline catches Savage and the Big Boot sends Randy to the floor once again. Liz tries to protect Randy again so this time Hulk picks her up and moves her away. Back inside, Savage catches Hulk with his head down and hits the flying elbow, which gets a very close two count.

The ref gets bumped off a Hogan clothesline, so Savage grabs the World Title belt and smacks it against Hulk's head off the top rope, drawing a blade from the champion. Savage revives the referee and forces him to count, getting the win and having Liz strap the belt around his waist.
Winner by Count Out: Randy Savage

-The Fink announces that Hulk is still champion, so Savage cold cocks the referee just because. This was still a big deal to get a win against Hogan in 1985. Way too much crap going on outside the ring for my liking and really no story told, hot crowd aside. *3/4

Intercontinental Championship
Tito Santana vs. Randy Savage
Boston Garden, February 1985. Long feeling out process to start while the marquee in the background says "Big John Studd vs. Hillbilly Jim". I bet that was a **** classic. Macho goes to the eyes and bails, where a fan dressed like a leprechaun tries to shake his hand. Savage is so distracted that Tito brings him back inside and hammers away. Savage runs away but still gets caught with an atomic drop for two. Randy goes back to the eyes then catches him with a clothesline for two. Double axe handle off the top gets another two and Tito tries to fight back, but a thumb to the eye stops that right away. To outside, Savage hits the double axe to the floor but Tito comes back by running him into the corner and stomping away.

Elbow off the second rope by Tito stuns Savage, but he misses a blind charge and Savage gets two. Tito's kickout sent Randy on top of the referee, so he's temporarily hurt and while he's clearing the cobwebs, Tito rolls Savage up for a 7 count...but it's only two by the time the ref gets there. Savage misses a kneedrop and NOW! WOOOOOOOO!! WE GO TO SCHOOL! Tito goes right after the knee and locks on the Figure Four while Liz and her pushup bra yell encouragement. Savage sucks it up and fights to the ropes and Tito has to break. Randy tries to yank a foreign object out of his tights, but Tito suplexes him and tries the Figure Four again, but this time Randy kicks him off. Savage finally gets the weapon and they do the exact same finish from the Steamboat match to get the win and his first WWF title.
Winner and NEW Champion: Randy Savage

-Match was going along fine, but the finish was EXACTLY the same. I guess you could look at it as Tito being stupid and not learning from Steamboat, but it was technically fine. **3/4 Gorilla promises a review from the "WWF Rules Commission".

Intercontinental Championship
Randy Savage vs. Bruno Sammartino
Boston Garden, January 1987. Bruno is 55 here and could still kick your ass. If you don't know the name "Bruno Sammartino" I don't know what to tell you...you should probably just take it off the bridge. Savage hides behind Liz and spits at Bruno, but the referee finally clears out the lovely manager so Bruno can kick his ass. Just for the record, Bruno still lives in Pittsburgh and jogs around the neighborhood every single day at age 73. The man is a cyborg.

The Pittsburgh Wrecking Crew

Bruno keeps up with the beating until Savage bails and hides behind Liz again, which allows for a Macho cheapshot. Savage rams him into the railing at ringside then drops the double axe from the top. Back inside, Bruno no-sells a double axe and fights back by typing Macho in the ropes and landing a big kick. Another kick sends Savage to the mat and a shoulderblock sends Savage to the outside. Bruno gets the better of Randy on the outside, so Savage grabs a chair and cracks him across the back right in front of the referee but, for some reason, the referee awards the match to Savage via count out. Huh?
Winner by Count Out: Randy Savage

-I'm not really sure why this was included because it's not that great and the finish made absolutely no sense. *1/2

-Recap of Savage bringing a ring bell down on Steamboat's throat in a classic angle setting up arguably the greatest match in WWF history.

-Savage gives a great coked-up interview promising the put Steamer out of wrestling.

-Steamboat responds with an equally intense interview.

Intercontinental Championship
Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat
You know, I have reviewed this a million times but I cannot find it to save my life so I guess I'll redo it for all my adoring fans out there. May I say again that those mini-rings that bring the wrestlers to the ring are AWESOME.

If Vince uses them next year, I want credit for it

This from WrestleMania III of course, probably the biggest North American event in wrestling history. Steamboat has George "The Animal" Steele with him for backup and to prevent cheating. Before we start, in my previous review I gave this match *****, a very rare thing, so let's see if I feel the same way years later. Liz looks hot, hot, HOT. Be still my beating heart. Savage is distracted by Steele getting too close to her and Randy moves her to a safer spot. Dragon works his deep armdrags to start, then chokes Savage out and dumps him to the outside. Macho takes over inside and hits a clothesline for two, but Steamboat comes back and works the arm by dropping it on the top rope. Savage comes back and catches Steamer with a sharp elbow, then sending him up and over to the outside.

Savage lands an elbow to the throat, for obvious reasons, then just lays the stomps into Steamboat until he's back outside again. Savage brings him back in the hard way and drops a knee for two. Steamboat comes back and slugs away in the corner before typing Macho in the ropes and pounding away. Some reversals on Irish whips lead to a cross body for two from Steamboat, then he gets 2 more two counts quicker than my recap can do justice. Savage dumps him, but he skins the cat back in before getting clotheslined to the floor. The pace here is ridiculous. Macho Man tosses the Dragon into the front row, but Steele is there to help him back into the ring. Jesse laments the lack of quality officiating.

Savage just won't let him back in the ring and drops a double axe from the top to the floor. Randy drags him inside and hits another axe handle, which sets up an elbow for two. Savage clotheslines him on the top rope in a spot I'm surprised no one has stolen yet. Atomic drop gets two for Savage and he follows with a vertical suplex for another near fall. A Steamboat comeback attempt goes nowhere and a gutwrench suplex gets two for Savage. Steamboat flips out of a suplex attempt and Savage takes a HUGE bump on a back body drop to the floor. Good Lord. Savage is a MAN.

KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!

Dragon brings him back inside and hits a chop off the top rope for two that has the crowd thinking it was over. Another two count frustrates Steamboat and he chops the shit out of Randy, who falls to the floor.

Back inside, Steamboat works for and gets a sunset flip for two, then rolls him up for another two count. Double leg hook gets ANOTHER two for Steamboat, then a small package gets two in another spot the crowd thought was it. Slingshot from Steamboat sends Savage into the ring post and the Dragon gets two. Schoolboy rollup gets two, but Savage reverses it and uses the tights to get his own two count. Holy hell, this is awesome. Finally, Savage gets desperate and uses the tights to send Steamboat shoulder-first into the post. They fight over an Irish whip and the referee gets bumped and is out, so Savage hits a clothesline. Randy hits the flying elbow and gets the visual pinfall but, of course, there's no referee. Macho checks the referee and sees he is out for the count, so he goes and grabs the ring bell. George Steele shoves Macho off the top rope to prevent the cheating and Steamboat rolls him up off a slam attempt for the exhausting win.
Winner: Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat

-I tell you what, this is one of the greatest matches I have EVER seen...and I've seen alot of wrestling in my day. There was something like 28 two counts here or something but it's just a breathtaking pace and an epic effort by both men. Interviews with Steamboat recently have revealed that Macho Man and Steamboat worked for MONTHS on this match, since Savage was obsessed with stealing the show and guess what? THEY DID. I've seen it a million times but it's still AWESOME. It won almost ever single Match of the Year award and deserved it. *****

-We skip over the Savage's face turn for some reason and talk about the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time, the Honky Tonk Man.

-This match was set up by an unreal angle for it's time. HTM and Jimmy Hart were beating down Savage after a match and Elizabeth tried to protect him. Then, in a shocking moment, Honky shoved Liz to the mat. It doesn't sound like much today, but it was HUGE for it's time. Macho Man basically is in full "Kill Mode" after that.

-HTM knows that Elizabeth wants him and promises not to be cruel. OWWWWW HAVE MERCY!

Intercontinental Title
Honky Tonk Man vs. Randy Savage
This is from The Main Event in February 1988, which featured the WrestleMania III rematch between Hogan and Andre. It drew a ridiculously high rating of 15.2, which was about 33 million viewers, which makes it the highest rated wrestling show of all time. Did I mention wrestling was popular in the late 1980s? Honky has Peggie Sue (the late Sherri Martel) and Jimmy Hart with him.

Savage chases Honky all around the ring and kicks his ass. He clotheslines him on the top rope and catches Honky with an elbow out of the corner. HTM tries to confer with Jimmy Hart but they get their heads banged together. Hart distracts Savage long enough for HTM to get some shots in before Savage misses a charge to the corner. Elbow misses for the Honky Tonk Man, but Hart distracts Randy again HTM nails him with Hart's megaphone. The heat on Honky Tonk Man is off the charts during this period of time. Honky poses for Peggy Sue a little too long and only gets two off the megaphone shot. HTM grabs a chinlock to try and wear Savage down.

Randy fights out but runs right into a knee lift, then rolls to the outside to try and regain his breath. Honky brings him back inside and hits on Liz some more before stomping away. Of the 6 people involved in this match (including the referee), 3 of them are dead. That's kinda depressing. HTM gets more of his jobber offense as the crowd chants for Savage, who responds with a comeback attempt that's ended with a clothesline. Honky decides to go visit Elizabeth on the outside, but Savage wakes up and hits the double axe to the floor.

Body slam leads to a double axe handle for two then HTM hits Jimmy Hart by mistake, who was trying to distract Savage. Randy grabs a sleeper hold but has to break it when Peggy Sue tries to attack Elizabeth. Macho catches HTM coming off the apron and runs him into the post, giving Savage the win by count out.
Winner by Count Out: Randy Savage

-Post-match, Liz saves Macho Man from a guitar attack and Savage sends HTM to the hills. Savage holds the ropes for Liz in one of those little moments of character development that just aren't there today. Although, I don't get why they didn't just include the match where Hulk saved Macho, that would have set up the following matches better, but whatever. Call it **.

-Recap of Andre winning the title from Hogan due to twin referees and Jack Tunney sets up a tournament for WrestleMania IV (the LONGEST WrestleMania EVER!!). Savage defeats Butch Reed, Greg Valentine, and the One Man Gang to set up a match with Ted DiBiase in the finals.

WWF World Title Final
Ted DiBiase vs. Randy Savage
Ted has Andre the Giant with him Vanna White is the guest timekeeper, which I guess is the same as turning around letters for a living and making millions. Seriously, how hard is THAT job, and she doesn’t even have to turn the freaking things anymore…She just puts her hand next to them, at least in the 80s she had to physically turn them. There are a million stories about the political situation surrounding this match, but I don't feel like going into them here. E-mail me if you REALLY want to know.

Anyways, on with the match, as Savage beats on DiBiase and Andre trips him right away, triggering a "Hogan" chant from the crowd. Savage goes back to work on the arm, but DiBiase rams him into the corner, then follows with a clothesline that gets two. DiBiase tries a sunset flip, but Savage punches out of it and then gets his own clothesline for two. After a conference with Andre, DiBiase hits another elbow, and then sends Savage into the corner. Savage ducks underneath an elbow and clotheslines DiBiase on the top rope, and then a high knee sends DiBiase over the top and to the floor. Savage goes up top to try to hit the double axe, but Andre stands over DiBiase, daring Savage to jump into his arms. Savage thinks better of it, and runs to tell Liz to go to the back for something. Obviously, the crowd knows where she is going.

Back inside the ring, DiBiase hammers away on Savage and hits three fist drops for two. Snap mare and DiBiase locks on a reveres chinlock as Liz returns with HULK HOGAN to a HUGE pop. Hulk grabs a chair from ringside and takes a seat in Savage’s corner to the protests of DiBiase and Andre. DiBiase hammers away in the corner, and Andre chokes out Savage behind the referee’s back. This prompts Hulk to run over and nail the Giant, getting a big pop. DiBiase stays in control with a clothesline for two, and a suplex gets another near fall. Gutwrench suplex for another two count, as it obvious Savage is winded and DiBiase is carrying him. Ted decides to head up top, but Savage catches him and tosses him off and races up the other corner but misses the Flying Elbow. That would have been the finish 9 times out of 10, great close call spot there. Savage staggers to his feet and DiBiase locks on the Million Dollar Dream. The referee is preoccupied trying to keep Andre away, allowing Hogan to sneak in the ring and BLAST DiBiase with a chair. Savage crawls to the top and nails the Flying Elbow to gets the pin as the crowd goes freaking INSANE! Damn.
Winner and NEW champion: “Macho Man” Randy Savage

-4th match for Savage and 3rd for DiBiase, so you can’t expect too much. It had an emotional ending and was the right end result, as Savage was finally given a shot at the big time. **

One of the most iconic photos in wrestling

-Striker does more Savage impressions and introduces the next cage match.

Steel Cage Match for the WWF World Title
Randy Savage vs. Ted DiBiase
From MSG in June 1988. This is escape rules only, which is much better than that pinfall shit nowadays. DiBiase attacks right away and hammers Savage with an elbow and a knee drop. Ted tries to escape over the top, but Randy brings him down and rams him into the corner for the count of 10. Ted comes back with a body slam and his SWANK fist drops. Another escape attempt is stopped by a slam, but DiBiase regains control and hits a clothesline. A DiBiase tries to get out but Savage trips him up and tries to get out himself, but Virgil cuts him off and DiBiase beats him down some more. Savage comes back and runs Ted into the cage for the first time (complete with great DiBiase bump) but his escape over the top is stopped by Virgil again.

They fight on the top rope and DiBiase manages to get a slam and tries for the door, but gets stopped. Savage hits a desperation clothesline and goes for the door, but Ted drags him back in. Another clothesline by Savage hits as Billy Graham talks about Elizabeth gaining 70 lbs and bulking up...he's drunk. Virgil gets involved again, but Randy still manages to get a suplex and an atomic drop that sends Ted into the cage. Savage is woozy and can't find the door and, when he does, Virgil slams the door in his face. Bastard.

DiBiase gets halfway out the door, but Macho gives us a full moon by using the tights to bring him back in. They fight on their knees and Savage sends Ted into the cage one more time, but Virgil gets involved AGAIN. An idiot fan actually climbs the cage and starts punching Virgil, but they shove him to the floor and Savage bangs Ted and Virgil's heads together and escapes for the win.
Winner and STILL Champion: Randy Savage

-A pretty damn good cage match, but the lack of blood is always distracting. Still, all-in-all, a good intense brawl that had the crowd going ***.

Special Features
-Just one on this disc and it's the Match Made in Heaven from Summerslam 1991 featuring the kayfabe marriage between Randy and Liz. In real life they had been married for years and actually divorced only a year later. Jake Roberts and the Undertaker eventually crash the party, starting the awesome feud between the two.

Disc 2

-Matt Strikers talks about the formation of the Megapowers and their influence on wrestling. You could almost see the dollar signs with a storyline between these two.

The Megapowers vs. The Megabucks (Andre the Giant and Ted DiBiase)
From Summerslam 1988 and Jesse "The Body" Ventura is the special guest referee while Billy Graham is on commentary. Bobby Heenan and Virgil accompany the heels the ring. Jesse switches the neutral corners for some reason. Little did everyone know he would be the special guest referee AGAIN 11 years later in the Summerslam main event, only this time as the governor of Minnesota. Only in pro wrestling.

Savage starts with Andre and gets his ass kicked in the heel corner. Ted comes in very quickly and he wants Hogan. Hulk tags in to hit an atomic drop and the Megapowers treat him like a ping pong ball. Clothesline leads to a tag to Macho and they hit a double team elbow on Ted to Jesse's chagrin. The Megapowers switch off on DiBiase until Savage hits a double axe for two on a slow count from Jesse. Hulk comes back in and the faces hit a double big boot for two then a slam punishes Ted until an Andre shot turns the tide. Jesse is having alot of trouble keeping control here, as there are too many people at ringside. Andre checks in and sits on Hulk, the steps on his chest. Andre, in his deteriorating condition, moves about the same speed as the Big Show...that's terrible. Andre goes to the NECK MASSAGE OF DEATH~! and then uses his strap to choke out Hulk behind Jesse's back.

Tag to DiBiase leads to a clothesline for two, then a fistdrop gets another two. We hit the chinlock that may or not be a choke and Ted works that for awhile until Hulk fights out and they clothesline each other. Hot tag Macho Man, who unloads on DiBiase and clotheslines him on the top rope then follows with a double axe handle. Savage gets overconfident and misses a blind charge, but manages to hit a cross body off a whip to get two. Clothesline puts him down however and Andre tags in to punish Savage in the corner, then sits on his face. I bet that smells good.

DiBiase tags back in as Savage continues to play Ricky Morton and takes a suplex for two. Backbreaker hits but a reverse elbow from the second rope does not and that enables Hulk to get the second hot tag of the match and hammer away on the Million Dollar Man. Suplex draws in Andre, but Hulk drops him and Savage tries something off the top, but Giant gets the foot up. Hogan, who had a sleeper on Ted, gets headbutted and tossed to the outside along with Savage. Suddenly, Elizabeth gets on the apron and TAKES OFF HER SKIRT!!! WHOO HOO!!! Sadly, this is 1988 and she's wearing bikini bottoms and not a thong, but still, it's great. Liz has a great ass, in case you're wondering. Even Jesse is distracted and the Megapowers get rid of Andre and a flying elbow/legdrop combo from Randy gives them the win after a very reluctant count from Jesse.
Winners: The Megapowers

-Honestly, if you have good heat on you, you can follow the tag team formula of heat segment-hot tag-rinse-repeat and get a decent match. **1/2 but Liz's legs and ass get ****

Savage is a lucky, lucky man

-Striker reviews the breakup of the Megapowers, which was an AWESOME storyline that had Macho getting jealous of Hulk's affection towards Miss Elizabeth. The blasting point came after Liz got knocked out during a match against the Twin Towers and Hulk chose to leave Randy to carry Liz to the back. Savage went absolutely ballistic on Hogan in the training room, putting Elizabeth in the middle and being the unchallenged #1 heel.

WWF World Title
Randy Savage vs. Hulk Hogan
Savage enters first, freaking Jesse out and launching him into a hilarious rant against Hulk. Liz gets about 20 security guards, plus Pat Patterson (I’m assuming because that’s the only guy Macho could trust to be around Liz, for obvious reasons) to protect her from the marks, but some guy still manages to pinch her ass. Jesse dubs the challenger “Lust” Hogan. Savage bails as the bell rings, drawing instant heat, and then comes back in and gets tossed across the ring by Hogan. Savage takes a shoulderblock and rolls to the outside again, and decides to scream at Elizabeth. Now Hogan has had enough and chases him around the ring, so Savage puts Liz in front of him, now THAT’S heel heat right there. Hogan grabs a headlock, and Savage gets a back suplex to break, but misses an elbow drop. Hogan pounds away, enraging Jesse because they are closed fists.

Hogan grabs an arm wringer, but Savage goes to the eyes and hits a double ax handle from the top for two. Savage gets an armbar, and then drags Hogan down by the hair to keep Hogan down when he tries to fight out. Hogan returns the cheating ways by grabbing the trunks to throw Savage out of the ring. Hulk tosses him back in as Jesse flips out about Hogan’s cheating ways. Hogan runs Macho into the corners, and follows with a clothesline and a pair of elbows. Savage catches him with his head down, and gets a clothesline for two. Savage grabs a sleeper, and Hogan is now bleeding from a cut above the eye. Hulk finally powers out and gets an atomic drop, but he misses an elbow drop and Savage is back in control. Savage gets a high knee to Hogan’s back, driving him into the corner, and Savage rolls him up, grabbing the tights, for two. Savage stomps on Hulk’s hand just to be an ass, and slaps him across the face, which is a mistake cause Hulk gets pissed off and rams Savage into the corner and pounds away.

Hulk gets the corner clothesline, but he hurts his arm on the move. Hogan picks Savage up and just dumps him over the top rope to the floor and Liz helps Savage, so Randy takes a swing at her. Savage drags Hogan outside and rakes the eyes, but Hogan rams Macho in the apron. Hulk tries to rams Savage into the post, but Liz stands in his way, so Savage pushes Hulk and Liz moves, so Hulk hits the post hard. I love this storyline. Now Liz is trying to help Hulk, so Randy comes out and throws her out of the way, and then manhandles her some more. Earl Hebner has finally had enough, and orders Savage back to the ring and Elizabeth to the dressing room.

Savage goes up top and hits the double ax to the floor, driving his throat into the steel barricade around the ring. Back inside, Savage gives him the over-the-top-rope clothesline, chokes him on the ropes, and then elbows Hulk in the throat. Knee drop to the throat gets two, and now Savage unwraps his wrist tape and chokes out Hogan. Jesse proclaims that is “his move”, and Hulk is in a little bit of trouble. Randy simply chokes the living breath out of Hogan and Hulk is officially RIP in the middle of the ring. Savage goes up top for the Flying Elbow, and nails it. Two count only as it's Hulk up time and you know the rest. Cover, count, and Hogan is champ for the second time.
Winner and NEW Champion: Hulk Hogan

-This was a definite keeper here, with good emotion and good storylines to keep the fans in the match. I’m going to go ***3/4 and say good job boys.

-Recap of Savage getting rid of Elizabeth and recruiting Sherri Martel and dubbing himself the "Macho King" after defeating Hacksaw Jim Duggan for the crown.

WWF World Title
Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage
This is from The Main Event in February 1990 and one-hit wonder "Buster" Douglas is the special enforcer. In an interesting note, Mike Tyson was supposed to be the special referee here, but he had to go and get his stupid ass knocked out by a jabroni, so that jabroni took his spot.

Hogan overpowers Savage then hits a shoulderblock, so Randy bails and Hulk is prevents from following by Douglas. Savage comes back in and clotheslines him on the top rope and following with a running knee to put Hogan outside. His trademark double axe handle to the outside is prevented by Douglas and Jesse freaks out. Back inside, Sherri gets involved but Savage hits her with a knee by accident and Hulk hits a clothesline then follows with a 10-punch in the corner. Hogan hammers away, drawing the ire of the referee, but Sherri trips him allowing Savage to get a cheap shot and take over with a clothesline which gets two.

Macho resorts to blatant choking and then Sherri gets her cheapshots in. Douglas stands there and looks like a pussy for doing nothing, but then tosses Sherri from ringside to make up for it. We take a commercial break and come back with Hogan fighting out of a sleeperhold and they clothesline each other but Savage no-sells and gets two. Hulk rolls to the outside and this time Douglas doesn't stop him from dropping the double axe to the floor so he does it again inside the ring for two. Kneedrop gets a pair of two counts. Macho punishes Hulk with punches and a bodyslam and hits the flying elbow...but of course it only gets two. Hulk Up City, population: Savage, and the Big Boot sends Randy to the outside. Savage drags him to the floor and Hulk accidentally hits the referee as he's coming in. Legdrop hits and Buster Douglas makes the count of three, even though Savage kicked out.
Winner and NEW Champion: Hulk Hogan

-Post-match, Macho is pissed as hell and challenges Buster Douglas with a slap to the face. Savage pretending to hear voices is awesome. Hulk shoves Macho into Buster, who KOs him and celebrates. Call the whole thing **1/4.

-Striker quickly brings us to WrestleMania VI.

Mix Tag Team Match
Randy Savage and Sherri vs. Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire
Jesse Ventura’s commentary is worth the price of this DVD alone. Dusty brings out Elizabeth to a big pop, calling her the “Crown Jewel”, she's hot of course. Savage’s rainbow trunks are kinda fruity looking. TO MY SHOCK, they have overdubbed Dusty's "American Dream" theme music....that's terrible. I guess we aren't paying royalties to Jim Johnson anymore? Rhodes and Sapphire are announced at 446 lbs, and Ventura says that means Dusty weighs only 200 lbs. That’s your Harvard professor right there kiddies.

I 've seen this a million times and it really sucks. Sapphire is WORSE than Kelly Kelly, if you can believe that. It's drags on and on until Dusty tags in and nails Savage coming in, but Savage comes back with a high knee to send Dusty to the outside. Savage comes off the top with a double axe to the outside, and then goes after Sapphire, allowing Sherri to beat on Dusty some more. Savage goes up top again and drops another double ax to the floor. A third time? Why not. But this time Sapphire stands in front of Dusty, so Savage gets off and throws her to the floor. Attaboy Randy. Back inside, Savage gets a suplex for two. We get a conflicting shot here, of Liz’s bare back (HOT) and Sapphire’s large ass (AHH!!).

Really, this is all just terrible wrestling and the play-by-play will just bore you. At the end, Elizabeth shoves Sherri into Sapphire, who uses her fat to roll Sherri up and get the win.
Winners: Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire

-Really, really bad. I mean bad. Savage went from headlining WrestleMania to this garbage? -*

-Quick recap of Savage costing the Ultimate Warrior the World Title, leading to...

Retirement Match
“Macho King” Randy Savage vs. Ultimate Warrior
Heenan spots Miss Elizabeth in the crowd, looking distraught and sad. Warrior walks to the ring, something I’ve never seen him do. Lockups to start, and Warrior chucks Savage across the ring, but Savage hammers away to take over. Warrior catches him with a shoulderblock and Savage runs around the ring at attacks from behind. Warrior catches him with a clothesline and a nice inverted atomic drop. Atomic drop from the Warrior and a hanging choke. Sherri comes running in, so Warrior tosses Savage onto her for a big pop. Savage gets tied up in the ropes, so Warrior hammers away, but Savage catches him with his head down and gets a clothesline. Savage goes up top, but Warrior catches him, puts him down on his feet and slaps him OHHHHH IT’S ON NOW, BITCH!!

Savage comes back in and attacks the Warrior from behind, but he gets caught and Warrior slugs away. Warrior stomps a mudhole in the corner, but neglects to walk it dry. Warrior misses a blind charge and falls to the outside, so Sherri comes around and tees off on him. Savage comes off the top with a double ax to the floor, Savage rolls back in and Sherri lays some knees and a back rake to the Warrior, before he shoves her to the ground. Savage jumps him from behind again and runs him into the post and keeps control in the ring. Gorilla says this is the “largest audience in the history of PPV” which is total bullshit because the event is STILL GOING ON!

They fight over a backslide, and Warrior gets two, so Savage spits on him and takes a powder. Savage tries to jump him from behind again, but Warrior catches him with a clothesline, but misses his shoulderblock and Savage gets two. Savage locks on a sleeper as the crowd is RABID at this point. Warrior fights out and they clothesline each other for the double KO. Sherri tries desperately to revive the Macho King, as they get quite a few shots of her ass in the process. Warrior gets a small package for about an 8 count behind the referee while he’s tied up with Sherri, and Warrior argues with the referee. Savage gives him a high knee from behind, and the referee gets bumped. Sherri mistakenly hits Savage with her shoe off the top rope, and now the Warrior chases Sherri around the ring (“Come here, b*tch”). Warrior finally gets a hold of her, but Savage rolls him up for a very close two count.

Warrior gets driven into the corner, and Savage clotheslines him on the top rope. Savages clotheslines him on the top rope again, and gets a bodyslam for two. Savage up top and hits the Flying Elbow, but that’s not good enough so Savage goes up and hits it again. Back up top, ANOTHER Flying Elbow nails the Warrior. Savage isn’t done yet, so he goes back up for a FOURTH Flying Elbow, and one more you say? Five Flying Elbows...Warrior is DEAD. Savage covers, but it only gets two! Man, talk about killing a finishing move right there. Warrior is a little beat up, so Savage hammers away, but Warrior gets to the ropes and starts CRAZYING-UP! Warrior getting strength from ropes is about as stupid as me getting energy from a doorknob. Warrior slugs away and clotheslines him down. Warrior hoists up Macho in the Gorilla Press, and gets the big splash and it gets…TWO??! Wow, talk about a near fall.

The Warrior apparently takes this as a bad sign, as he starts to talk to his hands and the sky. Warrior decides he’s not destined to win, and decides to talk a walk as Hebner tries to remind him it’s his career on the line. Savage jumps him from behind and sends Warrior to the floor. That’s all the motivation Warrior needs, so he decides to stick around this time. Savage tries a double ax off the top, but the Warrior nails him on the way down and is PISSED off. Back inside, Warrior gets a big flying shoulder tackle, sending Savage to the outside. He brings Savage back inside and gives him ANOTHER flying tackle, sending him to the outside again. Warrior isn’t done yet and brings him back in the ring, and delivering ANOTHER flying shoulderblock and plants a foot on Savage for the pin and the end of Savage’s career.
Winner: The Ultimate Warrior

-Post-match, Sherri freaks out on Savage for losing, before Miss Elizabeth comes out of the crowd to kick some righteous ass. Her and Savage do the big embrace in the middle of the ring to turn Savage face for good and a happy ending to Savage’s career. I know that was a REALLY long recap, but this match is a personal favorite of mine, so excuse me. I gotta give this thing ****1/2 for the whole deal, as this is Warrior’s best match EVER.

-Recap of the aforementioned wedding at Summerslam, which leads to the AWESOME angle of Jake Roberts having a snake actually bite Savage on the arm. That was sick shit and Evil Jake is freaking awesome, definitely a precursor to Steve Austin. For storyline purposes, the attack at the wedding led to Savage being reinstated after his loss in the retirement match.

Jake Roberts vs. Randy Savage
This is from This Tuesday in Texas in 1991, Vince's experiment to see if people would buy weekly PPVs. The answer? Hell no. Savage attacks Jake during his entrance and beats the living hell out of him in the ring. The referee tries to get control, allowing for a Roberts cheap shot to turn the tide and wrap Savage's bitten arm around the post. Back inside, Jake hits an inverted atomic drop for two. If there were a "Wrestling Heel 101" college course, Jake Roberts' matches would be the textbook. His mannerisms are so dead-on and awesome. Jake methodically works the arm and thwarts Savage's comeback attempts. Short-arm clothesline allows Jake to soak in the MASSIVE heel heat he is drawing at this point. DDT is countered and Jake's ribs are hurt, so Savage hits the flying elbow for the win.
Winner: Randy Savage

-Post-match, Savage wants to continue the beating but the referee preoccupies him, allowing Jake to hit a DDT and then a second because he's such a dick. Jack Tunney had prohibited Roberts from carrying a snake to the ring, so Jake outsmarted him by leaving it under the ring. This draws out Elizabeth, who tries to cover Savage and Jake verbally abuses her with a sick smile on his face, then makes Liz look into his eyes as he DDTs her husband again. Evil Jake is still awesome after all these years. This was less of a match and just the angle at the end. *

-We skip over the rest of the Jake feud and move into the Ric Flair "she was mine before she was yours" storyline. Flair produced fake photos of him and Elizabeth together which, of course, made Savage go insane and challenge him for the belt at WrestleMania VII.

WWF World Title
Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage
This was NOT the main event, that honor went to the mountain of suck known as Hogan vs. Sid. Savage comes to the ring and goes right after Flair, who bails. Savage finally catches Flair and pounds away on him in the aisle. Perfect jumps Savage from behind and tosses him around by his hair. The heat for this match is UNREAL. Inside, Savage gets a clothesline and drives Flair into the corner and hammers away. Savage counters an inverted atomic drop and gets a clothesline, but Flair back drops him over the top and Savage takes a HUGE bump. Flair drives Savage’s back into the apron, and lays the boots to Savage back in the ring. Big suplex from Flair gets two, and a back suplex gets another two count. Back into the corner, and Flair lays some more chops in before whipping Savage from corner to corner for another two count. Flair drops the knee across the face, and Savage rolls to the outside to buy some time. Flair follows him and drives the back into the apron again, beautiful psychology here.

Flair suplexes Savage back in for two. Flair sends him hard into the corner to kill the back some more, and stomps a mudhole in Savage. Savage fires back after every chop and Savage starts building some momentum and gets a swinging neckbreaker for the double KO. Flair first to his feet, but Savage slugs away and Flair goes to the eyes. Flair goes up top, but of course gets thrown off the top to a big pop from the crowd. Flair begs off, but Savage backdrops him out of the corner and follows with a pair of clotheslines. Savage sends Flair upside down and to the apron, as Flair runs up the corner, but gets caught coming off with a clothesline for a very close two. Flair is the MAN. Crowd HATES that two count. Off the ropes, Savage clotheslines Flair over the top rope, and Savage follows with a double ax handle to from the top rope. Flair does the Flair Flop on the floor, and Savage slams his face into the stairs, and then the post for another Flair Flop.

Flair is busted wide open for an awesome visual and Savage hits a suplex on the floor. He rolls Flair back in as Bobby Heenan is having a stroke. Savage goes to the top rope and hits a double ax handle for another CLOSE two count. Have I mentioned how much heat this match has? Bodyslam from Savage and he goes up top and nails the big Flying Elbow. Perfect runs in and pulls Savage off and Savage chases him into the ring. He tosses Flair a pair of brass knuckles while scuffling with the referee, and Flair KOs Savage, who goes out like a light, but Flair only gets two. Flair goes nuts on Savage, pounding away and trying to choke him out. Mr. Perfect nails Savage with a chair in the knee behind the referees back, as Elizabeth comes running to the ring looking WOWZA hot.

Back in the ring, Flair in working over the knee like only Ric Flair can. And now WOOOO, we go to school! A bunch of officials are trying to get Liz away from ringside, while Flair locks on the Figure Four in the ring. The crowd is having a collective heart attack at this point as Savage is fighting like hell to get out of the Figure Four. Flair of course grabs Perfect’s hands for extra leverage, as they cheat like crazy just trying to escape the pissed off Macho Man. The crowd is going nuts as Savage tries to reverse it, and the referee finally catches Perfect cheating and kicks their arms, allowing Savage to turn the hold over. Flair releases the hold as Savage hobbles around the ring, but still gets a small package for two. Flair jaws at Liz while he kicks the hell out of Savage’s leg (“It’s for you baby, WOOOO”). Flair atomic drops Savage’s knee, but he counters with a schoolboy and grabs a huge handful of tights for the pin. The crowd goes insane, HOLY SHIT!
Winner and NEW Champion: “Macho Man” Randy Savage

-Post-match, Flair kisses Liz and Savage goes BALLISTIC on Flair and every official in the locker rooms tries to break it up. Perfect and Flair put the boots to Savage’s knee as the officials finally get control. The crowd is just rabid at this point, and finally Randy gets his moment with Elizabeth while the crowd goes nuts.

-Great match, great drama, and a great storyline. See, WWE, it’s not that hard. I gotta give this ****1/2 for great wrestling, mark out moments galore, and a great storyline.

Special Features
-Only two here, the first one being the Macho Man shunning all the heel managers and picking Elizabeth in 1985. She was 25 years old here and SMOKING hot.

-We then get the Macho Man officially becoming the Macho King on Superstars in 1989.

Disc 3

WWF World Title
Randy Savage vs. Shawn Michaels
This is from England in April 1992. They fight over a lockup and then trade hammerlocks before Shawn misses a blind charge and Savage bounces him around the corners. After some stalling, Randy dumps Shawn, who skins the cat back in but, just like Ricky Steamboat, Savage is waiting and clotheslines him out, where he follows with a double axe. Sherri goes after Elizabeth, causing Savage to intervene and send Liz back to the locker room, enabling Shawn to attack from behind and run him into the post. Back in the ring, Shawn gets a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for two, the lays in the stomps. They job around for a little, doing nothing of note before Shawn hits a neckbreaker for two.

Savage comes back and slingshots Shawn into the post for two, showcasing HBK's selling. Top rope clothesline sets up a running knee that puts Shawn to the floor, where Savage hits a double axe. He introduces Shawn to the post, complete with 360 sell from HBK, then hits a double axe back inside for two. Savage goes up again, but this time gets caught coming off and takes a clothesline for two. Sweet Chin Music, before it was Sweet Chin Music or even his finisher, gets two. Fistdrop off the top rope hits and Savage rolls to the outside, where he's run head-first into the post.

Sherri gets her shots in while Heenan hilariously rips on the fans at ringside ("There's two women wearing the same dress! Oh wait, that's just one fat one.") Shawn lays in some punches and gets a near fall, but the referee gets bumped in the next sequence. Savage hits a stungun and a bodyslam before nailing the flying elbow, but there's no referee. Sherri comes in as Gorilla advocates violence against women, but Randy just drags the referee in, where he gets two. They fight over a suplex as Liz runs back and takes care of Sherri and Savage hits a high cross body for two. HBK comes back with a top rope sunset flip for two and a nice sequence ends with a high cross body hitting for Savage and getting the pin.
Winner and STILL Champion: Randy Savage

-Post-match, Sherri hits HBK with her boots by accident and a double noggin knocker sends the heels scurrying. Started off really slow but a good last 5 minutes were pretty good. ***

Randy Savage and Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair
AWWWWWWWESOME! This match was previously only available on a home video release that was very rare. This is the crown jewel of the set, complete with a JIM ROSS appearance before his days in a toga at WrestleMania IX! OK, I'll calm down and review the match now.

Shawn and Bret start and trade hammerlocks before Bret catches him in an inverted atomic drop and Savage clears the ring after a blind tag. Flair comes back in and styles and profiles until Savage gets sick of it and smacks him. Flair gets into his face again so Savage slaps him again, earning the GLARE OF DOOM~! from Slick Ric. Savage gets trapped in the heel corner, but fights his way out until Shawn gets the better of him, but misses a blind charge which hits post and Bret comes in to work the arm. These four men have the crowd in the palms of their hands. Savage tags back in and continues the work on the arm, then takes his head off with a clothesline. Now, it's Hart's turn and he grinds in a hammerlock but gets driven into the corner and slammed.

Flair (complete with crowd WOOOOs) chops away in the corner but takes a back body drop, allowing Savage to come back in and hit an elbow and forcing Flair to beg off. 10-punch in the corner is countered by an inverted atomic drop and Flair tries for the Figure Four, but it's too soon and Savage comes back but falls victim to an HBK superkick that puts him to the outside. The ref is occupied with Hart, so Perfect and HBK get some shots in and toss Savage back in. Shawn tags in and gets a high knee which leads to him choking Savage against the ropes. Shawn and Flair are just cheating outrageously and I love it.

Double team elbow by the heels and Flair drops a knee, then grabs the referee to let Perfect and HBK cheat even more and has Bret Hart beside himself. A Flair chop gets a two count and he draws Bret into the ring again, allowing Shawn to come in without a tag and continue the beatdown. Ric cuts off the tag and lays in some HARD chops and gets two with his feet on the ropes. Savage manages to hook a backslide, but Shawn breaks it and tags in. Bret has the referee and Savage gets a small package for a count of 9, but no referee. Shawn gets a back suplex for two and grabs a headlock on the mat.

Flair comes in and gets a sleeper, but Savage runs him into the corner. Flair goes up top but gets slammed off and Bret FINALLY gets the hot tag and just goes nuts on Flair and then beats the hell out of Michaels as well. Suplex and backbreaker get two, broken by HBK, but Savage rolls him up for two as I have no clue who the legal man is. Randy whips Shawn into Sherri and rolls him up for the win.
Winners: Randy Savage and Bret Hart

-Obviously, a great tag match that only loses a bit because of the ending but make no mistake, this is a MONEY match. ****

-Maria and Striker discuss Macho Man being the color guy in the early days of Monday Night Raw, but a return to the ring was inevitable.

WWF World Title
Randy Savage vs. Yokozuna
From Monday Night Raw in February 1994. Yoko's biggest drawing point is that he's gigantically fat. Savage attacks before the bell but gets caught with a big elbow. Yoko misses an elbow drop and it takes Savage three clotheslines to bring him down, where he gets two. Yoko comes right back and chokes away in the corner and hammers away. A Savage comeback goes nowhere and Yoko chokes some more as I wonder who has bigger breasts...Yoko or the typical WWE Diva? Big splash misses and Randy sends him to the outside with a high knee, then nails Mr. Fuji. Savage hits his double axe to the floor, but Jim Cornette runs to ringside as we go to commercial. When we come back, Savage is struggling to get Yoko back into the ring, which is like picking up a Volkswagen.

Cornette distracts Savage and Yoko gets a cheap shot and sends him into the ring steps. Back inside, Savage fights back and gets a high cross body for two. Vince is slowly going insane on commentary. Yoko hits a superkick but admires his work too much and gets rolled up for two. The fat guy stays in control and goes low with a headbutt and then uses various heel tactics in the corner. Avalanche hits in the corner but Yoko takes too long to follow up and misses a legdrop. Cornette distracts the referee and Yokozuna tries to use a salt buck, but Randy gets control and nails Yoko with it but when he is finally able to cover it only gets two. Savage gets rid of Cornette and hits the flying elbow, but Crush runs in for the DQ.
Winner by DQ: Randy Savage

-Not really sure why this one was included, as they could have done his WrestleMania match with Crush instead of a RAW match with a crappy finish. *3/4 I don't think Yokozuna ever had a match above **.

-Matt and Maria talk about the Monday Night War like we're a bunch of 3rd graders. I think, if we bought this DVD, we know what the Monday Night War is and that WCW was a different promotion. No reason given why Savage left, we just go right into WCW and Ric Flair putting the Figure Four on Angelo Poffo, Savage's father.

Lifeguard Match
Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair
From Bash at the Beach 1995. A lifeguard match is just a lumberjack match but, since WCW is stupid and has a PPV at a beach and therefore draws ZERO as a gate, it's a lifeguard match. Ha ha. Get it? Savage pounds away on Flair and gets a back body drop and a set of clotheslines that sends Flair over the top. The lifeguards toss him back in and Flair manages to get an inverted atomic drop off a 10-punch. He serves up some chops in the corner before dumping Savage to the outside, where the Nasty Boys toss him back in. Flair hits elbow on a charge and gets his face beaten against the corner before taking the Flair Flip in the corner. More lumberjack silliness and Flair tries an apron suplex but Savage dumps him to the outside then gets a back body drop once Flair's back inside.

Thumb to the eye turns the tide for Flair and he grabs a sleeperhold but gets run into the corner, allowing him to work in the Flair Flop. Ric comes back with chops and dumps him to the lifeguards, who drag him inside where they screw something up off the top rope. Now it's Savage's turn to grab a sleeper, but Flair atomic drops the knee and goes to work on it. Savage manages to slam him off the top and they have a slugfest in the corner and Savage hits boot on a charge. Flair locks on the Figure Four and this is such a bizarre setting because most of the people on the beach aren't wrestling fans and therefore have no clue how to react.

Savage turns the Figure Four but Flair still hits a delayed vertical suplex and gets two. Savage mounts a comeback while Tony brags about going to North Korea for an event. WCW IS FULL OF COMMIES! DIRTY DIRTY COMMIES! Savage dumps Flair into the arms of the Nasty Boys, which lets Arn Anderson sneak in and DDT Randy, but it only gets two. They fight over a backslide and Savage wins and gets two but Flair slugs him down. Ric goes up but of course gets slammed off and the flying elbow gets the win.
Winner: Randy Savage

-Match was decent, but not what you would expect from these two. The match was too concentrated on the "lifeguards" at the beginning and the knee psychology was forgotten after 2 minutes. **

-Savage wins his first WCW title at World War 3, but Flair wins it at Starrcade, leading to...

WCW World Title
Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage
From Nitro in January 1996. Macho Man clearly has Woman and LINDA HOGAN leading him to ringside, which is so weird and bizarre. Ric hits on Woman because he's Ric Flair, but she smacks him and Savage beats him at ringside. In the ring, Randy clotheslines him down for two but gets caught with an elbow and gets chopped in the corner. Savage goes over the top while Heenan talks Pittsburgh Steelers football, but not very well. Flair sends Savage into the front row but back drops Flair on the floor, however his double axe misses and he hits the railing as we go to commercial.

Back from break, Savage gets a 10-punch in the corner and sends Ric to the floor where he is introduced to the guard rail. Back in the ring, a corner sequence doesn't lead to anything but Savage still gets a backslide for two. Out of nowhere, Flair atomic drops the knee and locks on the Figure Four, using the ropes of course. The referee catches Flair in his cheating ways and drags him off but Ric still hits a kneedrop.

Flair heads to the top but gets caught and slammed, leading to a pair of double axe handles and drawing Jimmy Hart on the apron. Arn Anderson accidentally hits Flair with brass knuckles before Hogan gets rid of him and Macho hits the flying elbow for the win and the title.
Winner and NEW Champion: Randy Savage

-Typical TV match between these two with no real story told and one spot leading to the finish. **

-Savage loses the title back to Flair at SuperBrawl and we jump to Randy and Liz joining the nWo before battling with DDP and Kimberly. Well, the biography portion of this is basically non-existent.

Falls Count Anywhere
Randy Savage vs. DDP
From the Great American Bash 1997. Kimberly is ridiculously hot, far too hot for DDP, which is probably why they are divorced. DDP attacks from the crowd and tries the Diamond Cutter early, but Savage powders out before DDP hits him with a plancha, which hurts DDP's injured ribs. Inside, DDP hits a clothesline and then a flying clothesline from the top before dumping Savage to ringside. Randy goes to the eyes and Page visits the guard rail throat-first. They battle through the crowd to the back and DDP uses a crutch to rob a poor cripple man of his mobility. Page does the grab the hair "let's walk BITCH!" spot and they tumble back to ringside, where Page tastes the ring steps.

Savage tosses powder in Page's face and then breaks something over his head which Tony thinks was a hubcap because he's a moron. Macho Man rips the tape off of the ribs, although I'm not sure what good tape on injured ribs does. The crowd chants for Sting, which I'm sure makes Page feel really good. Savage stomps the ribs and the referee gets too mouthy so Randy slugs him and delivers a piledriver. Serves him right. Another referee runs down and Savage gets rid of him as well. Page tries a comeback but gets clotheslined to the outside. Macho threatens to hit Kimberly, but Nick Patrick (former nWo referee) stops him while fans take the chance to grope Kimberly at ringside. Classy.

They battle down the entrance way and DDP tosses Savage in the "VIP AreA" which consists of picnic tables and indoor-outdoor carpet...are you kidding me? Savage gets slammed through a picnic table and gets hit with a grill. Or, as JR would say: WEBER! WEBER! WEBER! Page drags him back to the ring and crotches Macho against the post. A Savage jawbreaker puts Page out, where he's tossed to the steps again. Macho exposes the concrete on the floor and tries a piledriver but Nick Patrick stops him, so Savage nails him and then beats up a photographer too, just because. Page uses this distraction to smack Savage with a chair but Randy goes low inside the ring.

Macho tries a suplex but DDP turns it into the Diamond Cover for the double KO while Scott Hall runs in and gets rid of Nick Patrick again. DDP floors Hall but Savage hits him with the Tag Team Title belt, enabling Hall to hit the Outsider's Edge. Flying elbow hits and Patrick counts DDP out.
Winner: Randy Savage

-Good crowd heat for that and it was a solid brawl that was entertaining for what is was. However, run-ins always deduct points so its ***.

-Macho Man forms Team Madness, which feature Madusa (with giant implants), Molly Holly, and Gorgeous George (who has a porno available online). That's quite the squad there.

WCW World Title Match
Randy Savage and Sid Vicious vs. Kevin Nash and Sting
From Bash at the Beach 1999. OK, you may be wondering why this is a World title match, but a tag match, right? Bear in mind this is a very BAD period for WCW. Basically whoever pins the champion, Kevin Nash, wins the title....yes that includes his own partner. Who booked this shit? This was during a period where it was implied that Savage was beating Gorgeous George...what a great storyline.

George hits on Nash to start, which allows Sting to attack Savage and hit an inverted atomic drop. Sid tags in and works over Sting with his usual crap before Sting clotheslines him out. Vicious comes back in and hammers away before getting a clothesline. Macho Man tags in and chokes Sting out on the ropes, letting the whores get their shots in, and Sid tags back in and locks on something that supposed to be a submission but looks nothing like one. I think it's a Camel Clutch, but it fucking sucks. The commentary team is totally ignoring the match...and I wish I could do the same.

There is nothing going on here at all. Seriously, a bunch of punching and choking. World Champion Nash finally tags in and cleans house with his usual boring ass offense. For as bad as the Big Show is, Nash is just as bad....only he booked himself to the win the World title. Sting "brawls" with Savage on the outside, but nothing really comes of it, aside from a missed Stinger Splash. This crowd is totally gone. Sid, since he has done all of 3 moves in this match, has to grab a chinlock to rest from the pace.

Sting headbutts Sid in the groin, but the great camera work shows it didn't even come close to hitting. It's hot tag Nash who does the EXACT SAME STUFF he just did. I forgot how much I hated Kevin Nash. Sting beats up some women and it's Stinger Splashes for all the whores, but Sid chokeslams him. If you have EVER watched WCW you knew George was going to turn on Nash, which she does, and Savage hits the flying elbow for the win and title.
Winner and NEW Champion: Randy Savage

-Wow, this totally SUCKED. Sid is terrible, Nash is terrible, Savage was old, and Sting did nothing. Not a good way to close out the DVD for sure -*.

Final Word
HOLY SHIT was that long. Hey, I don't have to tell you that if you love Randy Savage then definitely pick this one up because it has a ton of great stuff on here, as well as really good interviews. I would have changed the match listing a little bit, but that occurs on any of these "ultimate collections", so no big complaints here. Just turn the DVD off after the AWESOME tag match and you'll be fine. The WrestleMania matches are obviously available elsewhere, but if you don't have them already it's an easy way to pick them up. Maybe one day we'll see Macho going into the Hall of Fame...hey, I can dream right? DIG IT!
