Admit it, when your first heard of WWE Superstars, you did a facepalm. No one thought it would succeed, and it was mainly just thought of as Vince trying to get better ratings than TNA with his worst show.
But, in my opinion, it's turning out to be a good show. Just last Thursday (well, not taped on Thursday but you get the picture) you had Cena, the biggest star in WWE, against Ted DiBiase, one of the most promising young stars in WWE.
On a side note, a little less than 7 years ago, Cena was making his debut against Kurt Angle, the biggest star in WWE at that time. Now, Cena's the top dog. I don't know why I told you this, but I found it a little interesting.
Anyways, it was a greatly competitive match, with DiBiase looking as if he's been in WWE longer than Cena himself has.
This is what WWE Superstars should be all about. Good competitive matches that don't advance storylines or try to build storylines in any way. Unfortunately, that's what WWE is doing with WWE Sueprstars.
What they should be doing, in my opinion, is just having random matches that people want to see. Like, a triple threat between John Morrison, Carlito, and Rey Mysterio. No point of it, but an amazing match no matter what.
The reason WWE is not as good as it used to be is not because Stone Cold and The Rock left, it's not because the Attitude Era ended, none of that. It's because WWE stopped becoming its own show. Every single thing you see on TV now is building up to the upcoming PPV.
So, in my opinion, if WWE wants to keep doing that, then go ahead. But I just hope that they can use WWE Superstars in a better way. Have Cena VS. DiBiase, Carlito VS. Morrison VS. Mysterio, etc., but just stop advancing storylines on a show that claims to expect everything.
Until next time, faithful readers,
Hoffer
