  • The name, Scott Steiner, is both an infamous and legendary name in professional wrestling. Not only has the man known as “The Big Bad Booty Daddy” main evented all over the world and in EVERY major organization ever to hold a stand point and catch the public eye that he has ever worked in, he has also claimed Tag Team gold, glory and fame in the tag-team division, again, of every single organization across the world that he has ever wrestled in along with his older brother, “The Dog Faced Gremlin” Rick Steiner.

Perhaps in more recent years however, Scott is more known for his stint between 1998 and 2001 in World Championship Wrestling as “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner; a natural bad guy, and the man with the self proclaimed largest arms in the world, and a natural ladies man. He became a member of the nWo and quickly gained fame and recognition as both a talented performer in the ring and on the microphone, as well as being a future prospect as a World heavyweight Champion, a feat in which he soon accomplished in feuds with the likes of Kevin “Big Sexy” Nash and Booker T.

Scott became famous in his change from Tag Team wrestling to Main Eventing WCW, having not only a major change to his attitude, but also to his body. He possesses a bodybuilder’s body, something most men can only hope to achieve, something that all the women love. Legendary Wrestling manager and announcer Bobby “The Brain” Heenan said it better than anyone when he stated, “Scott Steiner has muscles in places where most people don’t even have places.”

This sparked a new era of Scott Steiner. Bleached blonde hair, memorable feuds and of course, his female valets who would accomplish him to the ring, which he would call, as well as every other “sexy” woman in the arena, his Freaks, whom he would acknowledge with his famous quote: “For all my freaks out there, Big Poppa Pump is your hookup, Holler, if you hear me!” This would often follow with large boos, but with camera shots of “sexy” women in the crowd jumping and cheering to him.

Scott’s most memorable freak is obviously Midajah O’Hearn, his most prominent valet who was with him until WCW closed, but through the years he had many more, most of which were nitro girls or ex nitro girls. He even tried to recruit Kimberley Page, wife of Diamond Dallas Page, which in turn sparked a real-life backstage altercation which then evolved into an on-screen feud as a cover-up. Yes, Scott Steiner is just as controversial in the ring as he is out of the ring, for better or for worse? Oh, you darn well KNOW it is for the better!

The Question I am posing now though, is at age 45, can Scott Steiner still Main Event in his current promotion, that being Total Nonstop Action Wrestling? In the year 2007, his brother Rick Steiner made his illustrious return to TNA to reform the legendary tag team, however, Rick, much like many of the unhappy TNA talent has been doing this past year, packed his bags and left. Scotty has since reclaimed his stage as a bad guy, recruited one or two freaks and is on the stepping stone of a main event push.

For those who may not know, Scott’s in-ring work was somewhat lacking to his usual standard through the year, until a near-death experience he had following a stiff kick to the throat from current WWE developmental talent and former NWA/TNA star, Apollo, in which Steiner missed months of action and nearly lost his life in the process. Since returning, he seems to have a new lease of life, a new passion when it comes to professional wrestling, something that many famous report writers have commented on. This of course means his in-ring work has drastically improved, and he has even bought several of the moves he made famous out of retirement, including his own creation “The Frankensteiner”.

With all this in mind, does Scott Steiner still have what it takes to bring it to the “Freaks” in TNA Wrestling? In my opinion, Scotty never lost it! I have been a huge fan of The Steiner Brothers since day one, and I will never stop. Scott is one of my all time favorite wrestlers, and I am thankful that his heart is back in the sport. YES, Scott Steiner CAN main event Total Nonstop Action.

Just think of the potential rebirth of feuds:

    Scott Steiner versus Kurt Angle
    Scott Steiner versus Samoa Joe
    Scott Steiner versus Kevin Nash
    Scott Steiner versus Sting

So many possibilities, so much time to utilize them, I will close with one final message.

For all the freaks out there, Big Poppa Pump is BACK!
