  • Saturn is a name that is both feared and widely respected in the world of professional wrestling. Saturn is known as one of the greatest tag team wrestlers in the organization ran under the regime of Paul E. Dangerously called Extreme Championship Wrestling in which Saturn was apart of a very successful Tag-Team called The Eliminators along with his tag-team partner Kronus.

In ECW, Saturn went on with Kronus to win the Tag Team titles on several occasions. His success was greatly noted and monitored by rival federations and eventually he made the long-awaited transition to World Championship Wrestling in 1997 rejoining several of his friends whom he had met in Extreme Championship Wrestling including the likes of Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero.

Saturn achieved minor success in WCW being misused and mistreated by the management who could not see him as a major player or a main event caliber superstar due to his size, being remotely smaller than their current main eventers which included the likes of Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage. Of course, there was no doubt in the talent in which Saturn possessed being a master of the Suplex and several submission moves as well as being able to maneuver through Wrestling styles during his matches to his advantage, there was not much that Saturn could do, but his size is what held him back.

Saturn went on to join his best friend Raven, another ECW alumni, in Raven’s Flock, a faction designed for social outcasts’ with troubled pasts and troubled histories in both real life and in the world of wrestling. This was WCW’s first taste of extreme and hardcore’ wrestling in an attempt to capitalize on what Extreme Championship Wrestling had created, perfected and profited from. This bought in a new rule called Raven’s Rules’ which allowed the usage of weapons and foreign objects in a match, as opposed to the usual traditional wrestling.

After leaving The Flock, Saturn engaged in a brief feud with Raven before moving on to feud with such people as Rick Steiner and other midcard Wrestler’s before joining a faction called The Revolution with his friends Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko under the lead of another ECW Alumni, former NWA World Champion Shane Douglas. The Faction was accepted as a heel group, however, was not given the chance to run it’s course as not long later, Saturn, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero all jumped ship to the rival World Wrestling Federation.

Saturn achieved minimal success in the WWF and after an incident on WWF’s show Jakked’ in which he was stiff punched in a match and lost his temper, severely breaking kayfabe and beating a fellow wrestler senseless before throwing him around and dropping him outside the ring on his head, Saturn was then punished by being paired with a Mop, called Moppy, and the story went that he had a love affair with this particular Mop, giving him a crazy, schizophrenic like gimmick which severely stripped him of all his past credibility in rival federations.

Saturn left the WWF shortly later, and in 2003, he made his way to the new promotion, NWA: Total Nonstop Action where he was teamed with the likes of The Sandman and New Jack in a faction called The Extreme Revolution which feuded with Vince Russo’s Sports Entertainment Extreme. He had a nice run in TNA having many wins and gaining a huge fan-base in the process that were just happy to see a man of Saturn’s talent back active in the ring.

Saturn left TNA later that year however and in 2004 he prevented an attempted rape, but in the process, was shot 3 times in the neck with a .25 caliber handgun, severely damaging his spinal column. He was lucky to be alive, but was also dubbed a hero. He is still able to walk and Wrestle but with risks, his last match took place in 2004. He was forced to cancel Shane Douglas’ hardcore homecoming show due to the condition of his neck, and has since not been seen in the business.

With any luck, one day we will have the chance to see the technical prowess of Saturn once again in the ring. The man is a general hero and an inspiration both in and out of the ring.
