  • John Cena is an American professional wrestler that currently wrestles for the WWE wrestling promotion. He’s the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and has been a huge success since joining the WWE in 2002. As well as wrestling; John Cena is also a rapper, and even starred in the hit 2006 movie The Marine’. John Cena is not just a fantastic name in wrestling, but a huge star in many different forms of entertainment.

Cena first made his wrestling debut in February 2000 at the age of twenty two, wrestling for the Ultimate Pro Wrestling promotion. He held the UPW Heavyweight Championship for just under one month in April 2000, and in 2001 was snapped up to wrestle for the WWE.

Beginning his WWE life with the WWE developmental program Ohio Valley Wrestling in order to gain experience; John Cena held the OVW Heavyweight Championship for three months during his time with the promotion, and also won the Tag Team Championship with Rico Constantino, another wrestler who’d later go on to establish himself as a big name with the WWE.

John Cena took part in his first WWE wrestling match in June 2002, taking on Kurt Angle in a match which was ultimately won by Angle. Over the coming year; John Cena really began to establish himself in the WWE, and took on a new hugely popular rapper gimmick.

Continuing to show himself to be a top performer in the WWE, Cena finally got a taste of wrestling belt glory when he defeated Big Show at Wrestlemania XX in March 2004. Winning the United States Championship, he went on to spend four months with the belt, before having it officially stripped away from him by Kurt Angle. Winning it back at No Mercy in November 2004, he lost it just four days later as he was defeated by Carlito Caribbean Cool. He won the title back for a third and final time November 2004, and has since moved on to bigger and better things within the WWE wrestling promotion.

John Cena won the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 21, defeating John “Bradshaw” Layfield for his first WWE world title. John Cena has now held the WWE Championship three times, and is a two time World Tag Team Champion also; once with Shawn Michaels, and once with Batista. He won the 2008 Royal Rumble, having several times comes close in recent years, and as of November 23rd 2008 is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Cena defeated Chris Jericho to claim the World Heavyweight Championship, and what a stunning Survivor Series match it was too. Cena and Jericho once more fought it out at Armageddon; John Cena retained the belt though, and Chris Jericho succumbed to defeat at the hands of John Cena for the second time in a month.

Never one to disappoint in the ring; John Cena has proven to be hugely popular during his time with the WWE, and has so far spent six and a half successful years in the promotion. Whether a heel or a face; John Cena’s talents are always appreciated by many, and he really is a truly phenomenal performer. Cena shows fantastic athleticism in the ring, and it’s always fantastic to watch him in action.

I’m sure John Cena will go on to spend many more successful years within the sport of wrestling, and his second movie ’12 Rounds’ is all set for release in March 2009. John Cena is really making a name for himself as a movie star, and it seems that his talents are not just appreciated in the ring, but by the mass movie watching public also. John Cena truly is a hugely talented individual, and I’m sure that those who trained him at Ultimate Pro Wrestling and Ohio Valley Wrestling are very impressed with the way that John Cena’s career has turned out so far.

John Cena really is one of the most talented wrestlers present in the WWE right now; John Cena was born to entertain, and what a fantastic job he does of it too. 2009 will no doubt be another huge year for John Cena, and I can’t wait to see him involved in action in many more WWE pay-per-view main events in the future.
